I'm going on a two week cruise next month and I'm considering a new camera. I've had a Casio Exilim for a few years but only just started to have a little trouble with it. On a few occasions the screen has turned into red/yellow/blue lines and last week I had trouble getting it to turn on. My concern is it totally going wonky on me in the middle of the sea.

I'm thinking about going with a different brand. My SLR is a Canon so I'm leaning that way a but but wanted to hear other opinions.

Thanks :)

I have the Nikon Coolpix S9100. It's actually a really excellent camera, and has a huge zoom. It's a little bigger than the typical point and shoot camera (but it may not even be in that category?). It's a little pricey, but it's nice to have something that can slide into my pocket, and still produce excellent results.

Canon Powershot SD1400 IS elph. Best point and shoot camera I've ever had. I almost never have to take it out of auto mode. It senses everything so well that I can't remember the last blurry pic I've had. That's important to me when on vacation, cause I don't want to have to stop and adjust and pick settings. And it is so small, I can keep it in my shirt pocket.

My lightweight point-and-shoot is still my old Canon SD400. Lovely camera, though obviously limited in tough situations like nighttime shots.

The only point and shoots I like are Sony's. I'm on my fourth one now. The one I have now has so many features that I prefer it to my Canon DSLR!

I too had a Casio Exilim for years but just recently I upgraded to a camera I freakin' LOVE! And you can't beat Amazon's current $149 price. The 16x OPTICAL zoom it amazing.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for their comments. Between my recent cold and my mom's knee surgery earlier this week I really haven't been on the board much. So, thank you again. I appreciate them all and will take them into consideration.
