I understand why some/many people create screen names, especially if they are well known and wish to post freely without any complications, or just feel uncomfortable about giving out personal, traceable information.
Why multiple identities? No...really. I'm not looking for a smart-assed comeback...funny/clever is acceptable. BUT,If what you are posting is not being received as you anticipated, why can't you just accept the differences and move on or post less frequently or go away for little while. The cast always changes here. Or if that doesn't work out, take your ball to another court...permanently.
Also, why set yourself up as a sucker? Why put yourself in a snake pit and spit at the snakes?
Speaking as someone who got her tit in a wringer a while back with a few folks here...I realized how my actions affected others and corrected the situation to the extent I felt necessary. I know now what to expect and from whom. I post here occasionally, because I write here (for better or worse to some, it's ok by me). I don't know most of you...so why would I challenge you? I only wrestle a round or 2 with those who pin me down for no valid reason. People do give up.
Yeah, I know you like to debate, poke fun, fight and makeup ( that's the best/funniest part). But why the hell do people come back like resurrected ghosts with new names? If who you are is not accepted the first time, does posting under a new name make you different? I think it's dumb ass funny when others try to guess the "new" posters "real" identity. Honestly, I wouldn't have the time, interest or the memory to create the "Sybil" syndrome for myself, let alone try to figure out others "deal".
So, I leave you with the question...what's the real poop on sock puppets? While I'm ducking pies...why can't people just agree to disagree. Discuss, debate, laugh and move on to something else. Life is too short and stressful to fight with strangers.

I think there are two types of sock puppets:
1) those who have been banned, so they must come back as a "new" poster if they are to post at all
2) those who got off to a bad start or got entangled in their self-created messes and are hoping to start anew with a new identity
Both groups suffer the same fate, though, as their true nature seeps through and they are quickly identified.

I think the whole sock-puppet thing is pretty childish. You probably have too much time on your hands when you need to do the whole multiple personalities thing.

Then we called him out on being the sellr, so then he made a new sn and announced that he was sorry, that he had lowered his prices, and of course, that we shuold checl his stuff out.
