This is Maroon Bells, by Aspen, Colorado. I used to hike around there all the time when I lived in Aspen. It's SO beautiful.
Ohhhhh - Pretty.
Pretty indeed. A friend of mine just spent two weeks roadtripping from NC all the way out to San Francisco and back, and has so many amazing pictures of "out west". Gorgeous areas abound out there.

Hey, You - isn't it GORGEOUS today?!? We went down this morning to Downtown Disney to see the muscle cars they had on display there. With cars AND Disney, the TinMan was in HEAVEN

SC - the west really is very pretty, and 'grand'. I came from the east coast originally, but have been out west since the 80's. I love it. Sounds like your friend had quite a journey! I love road trips. In fact, I'm leaving tomorrow for a week in Nevada, Utah and Colorado.
Just spent the last hour taking laps around my complex - with all of the trees and the pond, it was beautiful!

Ok, just one more (a friend just sent an email full of pretty pictures, can you tell? )
This is a small part of Antelope Canyon, which is another place I used to hike, when I lived at the Grand Canyon.
Yeah, DG, my friend and her boyfriend (might as well be husband) had an amazing time. I definitely want to spend some time in San Fran, it seems like a city I'd like. I have family in San Diego, and I've never visited them there. I've never been west of Tennessee, actually, sadly. But I'd love to go out west and explore a bit. More of the metropolitan areas, but the nature stuff interests me some!

SC - San Francisco and San Diego would be an interesting contrast of places to visit! San Fran is definitely liberal heaven, and contains a fair amount still of bohemian vibe. LOADS of fabulous restaurants, antiques, book stores, performing arts, and extremely multi-cultural.
San Diego, on the other hand, skews much more conservative (due mostly to the sizable military component to the population. But it's a very friendly and beautiful city - there's a huge city park (Balboa) that is one of the best I've ever been to. It's not as 'happening' as San Fran is, but it's a fun place to visit - and the weather is extraordinary, pretty much year round.
If you got to SF, take a day and go to Napa and do some wine tasting - it is a blast (especially if you like wine).
SD is beautiful, but as described by DG.

"do some wine tasting"
You - have been to any of the wineries out in Temecula? They're surprisingly good - and closer than Napa
Yeah, I think the vibe of SF is more my style, but the family in SD is awesome and I miss them a LOT. But if I was going to live in California, I think SF would definitely be my first choice.
Yes, once, but I favor Napa. It reminds me of my college days.
It is more of a tourist trap these days, but I still have fond memories of going for a weekend with friends who lived in Napa.
I have been to Santa Ynez, but I was not that impressed.
We start our huge Southern Cali roll out tomorrow....ugh. lol
Evening greetings all. Had lunch in Hoboken with my new partner in crime **sticks tongue out at Shameys** and hung out at home.
Chris backed the truck into a pole in a parking lot today, fun fun.

We have friends that live in San Francisco, and I love to visit them, but I couldn't live there. Actually, I don't think I could ever again live 'in' any city. I like having access to things, but I like escaping to the relative peace and quiet and safety of our home.
People actually GOT OUT in this heat today?
Oh, what am I saying, I had to go to work yesterday. I hate feeling absolutely sticky from the humidity + heat. But I should be used to it by now, 23 years in the south!

SC - I grew up in south-eastern Virginia - and the above is the reason I headed west, and stayed! It's very dry out here
Hey, Tink.
Sounds like I picked the right weekend not to be in DC...
But, my luggage is still probably enjoying the heat.
Oh cool, DG. I have family in Virginia, Lynchburg and Roanoke. My mom's family is spread between Tennessee and Virginia, and she found her way to North Carolina after wandering down to Georgia and Florida when she was younger.

I lied - this is for Addy, if she pops back in.
Gotta run and get things ready for the trip.
SC - nice to *meet* you - and don't forget we want to know everything that Shira does. Make sure you find out how to use the PM function
*MWAH* to all.
Melted Mamie from Virginia here... DG, your trip sounds wonderful. Will you be seeing Glebby and the babies in Utah?
Ahaha, I know how to PM. So I'm officially going to be BWW's Shira stalker/reporter?

*sigh* Unfortuantely, no, Mamie.
However, I actually MIGHT be able to swing through on the return! I need to drop him a line and see about the possibility - you know I'd LOVE to meet the new baby
Ok, NOW I'm going.
Off to watch the Lakers game!
I've got to see if I can find something cool to wear to work tomorrow. I'm dreading that commute!
Have a lovely evening all!
