happy to be here. hello girls!
Hello, boys!
you would think after all the times i've already poked you that this would get old, but no.
Back from my walk.
Now I am Svitzing.
Why the svitzing?
I'm bored tonight.
Because I was walking at a brisk pace, and there are some inclines in my complex, and because I am out of shape, working on getting some weight off...
Aaaaah I know EXACTLY how that is. NYC is still kicking my ass 3 weeks here. But considering I'm about 240, 5'1", it was expected. Hopefully by the time I leave, early August, I'll be lighter! Or lets say I better be... :)
I have been on a detox diet, and have lost about 8-10 pounds in the past 10 days - but I am sure most of it is water weight. Still, when I saw my mom, she was surprised, because she could tell that I had lost weight. No wheat, no dairy, fruit, egg whites, vegetables, a bit of oatmeal, and brown rice. I can also have some soy milk.
Other than not having much energy, everything else has been OK. I have not really been hungry.
As I have said earlier, Shira is very motivating.
Yeah, I could imagine where the lack of energy comes from. Some protein added to that could help. But best of luck on the detox diet. Honestly, water/salt weight makes a difference. Like, if you start watching the amount of sodium you eat (even if you're not changing much of what you actually eat), you'll see a difference.
Shira IS amazing. I'm trying to get her to stop totally thinking of herself as a cow, but whatever. But yeah, I had gastric bypass surgery in December - that's how me and Shira met (on an online message board/support group for GB people). I so envy the weight she's at...I started at 322 and I'm doing well, but it would have been nice to START in the 200s!
Well, I can have up to 4 egg whites a day, and they have a lot of protein. I can also do some legumes, but I have not yet, because I am lazy...
I to have some green beans for tonight, and will get some black beans tomorrow.
I am sure a chunk of the weight is water weight, but at least it gets you motivated...
Luckily, I am just heavy, but not a candidate for GS. Congrats on your success so far!
Thanks! You sound like you're doing a good job... I'd just make sure you don't take the detox diet and make it long-term. You can slowly start adding more things into it, where you're still eating very healthy, but you have a bit more variety and a well-rounded diet.
I think it's tough being just a bit overweight, losing that weight. I'm really dreading the slow-down. Like, I'm excited about what I've lost, but I know it's slowing down and I KNOW that it's going to take a while... It's not easy.
Normally this phase should end tomorrow, but I am going through Tuesday (when I have my annual physical). After that, I can start introducing some lean animal proteins and other foods in.
But, honestly, something just switched off in my head and this has not been that hard. I have not wanted the sweets at work, and so far, have had no real cravings.
So, maybe this was just the time to do it.
I have a conference where I will be on a panel again in December, and my goal is 30-40 pounds by December. If I do that, I should be at a healthy weight, and perhaps shock a few colleagues!
Best of luck on the weight loss! You definitely have a reasonable time set to lose the 30-40 lbs, and that makes life so much easier. It's not like total bombardment on your body. You dropped this weight with the detox diet, and your body may slow down for a week or two, but you've given yourself enough time that it shouldn't be toooo discouraging when you slow down. Sounds like you're on the right path. :)
and here we go *the cows in xanadu jackets bring ice cream for all*
*passes on the ice cream but brings in watermelon to share*
Good luck to you too SC - you have put yourself in a great position - NY is a wonderful city, and you have a wonderful roommate!
I want to see Xanadu... And mmm ice cream. I'm staying away. Thankfully, we don't keep anything real junky here.
well =P
Mmmm watermelon... That's one fruit I've been craving lately that I haven't picked up. Thanks, YWIW. It's been such a really awesome time so far, hopefully Shira and I won't want to kill each other by the end of the summer.
My pleasure - I have some Jicama if you want to share that as well...
Off to do some stuff, have a good night all.
Overcast here this morning, lost power sometime during the night. Saw my babies unexpectedly yesterday, so that was a nice treat.
Happy Tony Sunday!

awww, thanks girly!
My body is in so many various degrees of pain and discomfort....just to put through even more tonight. I think I will be in traction for the rest of the week, lol. But totally worth it!
*stumbles in with coffee IV in place*
How's everyone? The game was fun. It's a benefit and therefore not a "real" game - you get to buy bases, outs, runs. Didn't realize it was a benefit for the Alano Club - a 12-step meeting house, and jokingly asked for a vodka tonic at the concession stand; they were not amused.
Going out to see my former softball team today; no plans for later in the day, but definitely outside enjoying the weather.
