Morning. Woke up by chance, thank goodness - set the alarm for "PM". Whoops.
It is about 80 degrees in this office. Not good with the mood I'm already in and the sicky way I'm feeling.

Greetings from Southern California - once again.
Off-and-running immediately getting the dog to the groomer, mother-in-law to the doctor and sprucing the house for a visit this evening by our financial advisor. We're going to go over the specifics of the California gay marriage situation, and what impact it could have on us.
Who knows - she might end up being my actual mother-in-law!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and is doing well.
DG - You make me smile this morning.

Shira - that's nice to hear. It's better than the reaction some people have to me
You should see the reactions they have to me! "Lady, yeah, you - that is NOT your Louis Vuitton, get your own!"
I tell 'em I'm working on it.
DG, best of luck on the marriage! That definitely makes me smile as well. I was very pleased when I heard about California overturning the "one man one woman" law. Very happy!
DG - let me pass on my best wishes on the marriage front too.
I feel like I have a head full of cotton today - and I didn't do any celebrating last night. Maybe that's why I had no idea you had a dog, DG. I did read "getting the dog to the groomer" didn't I? Do we have a name? A picture?

Mamie - we have a female Sheltie (one of these, but this isn't her.) We used to have a little boy, too, but lost him to a brain tumor last year. Our girl, Christy (short for Christina of the Cotswolds) will be 12 this November.
Not really sure how I feel about the wedding thing. I actually like the idea of the institution itself, but the whole public pageantry of it makes me balk a bit. I think I played the organ for too many weddings when I was younger! I'm more apt to lean toward a big celebratory party - AFTER a very private event.
I agree DG. I've always felt that way.

Well, for what it's worth there are many folks who feel exactly the same as you.
Favorite niece Katie (Sam's mom) and Pete (Sam's dad) were originally scheduled to have a huge formal wedding late last year. Then they found out that Sam was coming and it completely changed their view of things. They decided to cancel the big wedding and now they are going to go down to the beach (probably the outer banks in NC) - just the 3 of them - and have a quiet, unannounced wedding. They've let everyone know that they are planning a HUGE party in August to celebrate their marriage. NOT their wedding - just their marriage.

I know that feeling, DG. Either way, very best wishes and hopes to you!
Aw, cute baby girl, DG. Or I'm sure she's cute! And I know what you mean about weddings. I'll take a big party afterwards, but the actual ceremony? I think I'd prefer something smaller. I mean, I'd love to be able to afford some wonderful designer wedding gown, but that's not totally realistic... Well, probably not!

Ultimately, I just want to get right to the open bar.
So, Girly, you won't be too upset that you weren't a bridesmaid when Boobsie and I bring home our Thai 'wives'?
