LOL -
This is what I used to hear at home:
When Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicked the lantern
In Chicago town
They say that started the fire
That burned Chicago down
That's the story that went around
But here's the real low-down
Put the blame on Mame, boys
Put the blame on Mame
Mame kissed a buyer from out of town
That kiss burned Chicago down
So you can put the blame on Mame, boys
Put the blame on Mame
When they had the earthquake in San Francisco
Back in nineteen-six
They said that ol' Mother Nature
Was up to her old tricks
That's the story that went around
But here's the real low-down
Put the blame on Mame, boys
Put the blame on Mame
One night she started to shimmy-shake
That brought on the Frisco quakes
So you can put the blame on Mame, boys
Put the blame on Mame
You never heard this, Mamie?
You coax the blues right out of the horn, Mame,
You charm the husk right off of the corn, Mame,
You've got that banjoes strummin'
And plunkin' out a tune to beat the band,
The whole plantation's hummin'
Since you brought Dixie back to Dixie land.
You make the cotton easy to pick, Mame,
You give my old mint julep a kick, Mame,
Who ever thought a Yankee would put
A little Dixie mouse to shame.
You've made us feel alive again,
You've given us the drive again,
To make the South revive again, Mame.
I've heard it (of course) but I didn't hear it at home and I don't really know why. My dad was the greatest straight male musical theatre fan I've ever known. He had a voice like Crosby's and he sang all the time at home. (Actually I think Mame was a little late for him. He was more of the Oklahoma generation)
I just saw Mame for the first time a few weeks ago. It was the Ros Russell version. I love her but I imagine the stage version is much better.
Actually I think they're both good - just in different ways.
Well Idina looked very cute and Regis (in his usual idiotic way) got her name wrong. You'd think that being the host of the show, he'd make an effort to know the names of his guests! One time I saw him interview a guy who was appearing on a tv show and he consistently called the guy by the name of his character, rather than his actual name.
I know! I like Regis, but he is a horrible interviewer. He kept asking Kelly Preston about John Travolta. I'm sure she loved that.

I was just listening to MAME last night, shamey.
What did Idina sing?
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.
Puppies are babies in fur coats.

Hi Linnie! Which recording?
Girly, she sang I Stand.
Lansbury, I hope.

Oh please, do I strike you as someone who would accept second best?

I'm more at home with a different type of keys.

Baritone, close enough.
ETA: I do have a very Jesus Christ Superstar Falsetto, although we're not talking Jaily's whistling range here.
I once saw Jaily open his mouth, no sound came out, but hundreds of dogs started converging on the bar.
Oooh!!
Thanks, Shamey. Kinda wish she did Brave, but I Stand's good, too.

lets hit the beach after my interview today
I was at the beach on Saturday and Sunday. Let's just chill in the A/C.
And good luck!!!
Ooooh, the beach... Is there a particularly good one/better to go to? I definitely want to spend a few days there this summer. :)
DEETSPRAY!?!
Well, Chef, Harris and I live in Florida, but if you're planning on flying down, I'm sure we can recommend a few.
If you're staying in the Northeast, then I say you gotta hit the Jersey Shore. It's the law.
^^what she said. for a very long weekend.^^
