DGG - you might want to let Shira weigh in on that option before you proceed

Much better - thanks for asking.
Now, if I could hire someone to do some of my work, that would be nirvana.

Have to stop at the grocery store after work. I'm making some kind of sweet potato with marshmallow thingy for Thanksgiving. I've never made it before and I'll be following a recipe that says stuff like "3 or 4 good shakes of... and 2 or 3 shakes of..." and "adjust as needed". So this is gonna be good.
Need to buy a few cans of sweet potatos. Maybe I'll buy extra. Just in case.

CANS?!? CANS?????????
SOMMS and I shake our heads. Where did we go wrong? Cans.....!
... and I just logged in! CANS ... NO CANS! Buy the real thing Girly -- a little peeling never hurt ya!
That's what the recipe says. I wouldn't know what to do with a real sweet potato.
SHUT UP!

JESUS! Even I know how to peel a real sweet potato! And what to do with it!
Shut up.
I have a great "recipe" for what you can do with a sweet potato.
RUNS!
We're talking cooking for Thanksgiving dinner boys, not substituting your toys!
I know how to peel one to use in a recipe, but what to do with it for the rest of that recipe?

So, Deetie, how much longer to go on that indentured servitude contract to J2? Peel, chop, mix, blend, faster, faster!

You wouldn't even need to peel them if you didn't want to - just baked them, then scoop out the cooked potato.
Cans? Oh goodness.
YWIW - A family friend is.
And in hospital news, my father will NOT be dying today, as had been previously determined/contemplated by the doctors.
CANS?! Grab a bunch of sweet potatoes, wash them, rub the skins down with a little shortening, sprinkle them with kosher salt, wrap them individually in aluminum foil and bake for an hour. They will be so soft the skin will just slide off. SO much better than anything canned!
umm... yeah. so not cooking for thanksgiving. i'm going home... isn't that enough?
