The QE2? Wow - what a great trip! I'm going to Rome next June, but going via boring plane. I'd rather be on a ship - for many reasons!
Did some retail therapy yesterday. I figured it was my duty since the local economy is impacted by the government shutdown. I'm only thinking of others, you know.
Moony, they fly to Rome and get on the QE2 there. Sounds like an awesome trip. They named all the stops they were making, but too many Cosmos make me forget.
BTW my new AV is Baby HC.
You're doing it on purpose, aren't you?
It sounds like a lovely trip, Boobs. Whatever ship they're on.
(Technically, it's the third Cunard ship named Queen Elizabeth, but there's no number for this one. She's simply named Queen Elizabeth, like the first one, which was in service from 1940 - 1968. She was destroyed by a fire in Hong Kong Harbor in 1972 while undergoing conversion to a floating University. The QE2 was in service from 1969 - 2008, and is now docked in Dubai. Plans to convert her into a floating hotel (like the original Queen Mary in Long Beach CA) have never gone through, and her fate is undetermined although it seems likely she'll be sold to be broken up and scrapped.
Cunard currently has three Queens in service: Queen Mary 2, the flagship, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth. Only the QM has a number attached. )
I just can't help myself.

Oh Boobs, it's not you, the Cosmos, or your brother. It's just me being me.
(Well, it might be your brother. A little bit.)

YWIW, don't you just want to bite his cheeks.
Play is always a good thing.
Saw our church production of "Our Town" on Saturday. The acting was phenomenal. I was really surprised. The narrator was a woman who was incredible. Now don't stone me, but this was the first time I ever saw this play.
Baby HC and my daughter have similar cheeks!
They are serious cheeks!

Morning peeps! Got a flu shot yesterday and had chills last night. I'm still blaming it on the person sitting next to me at work who keeps breathing his sick breath on me! He can go back to Singapore now!!!

Bad day yesterday, and probably round two today. A good friend got let go - she knew it was eventually coming, but the way it was done, UGH. Dodgers lost. Work today is all going to be about the layoff, and I have to balance my role as a friend with that of a company attorney. Double Ugh.
I am trying to get her to see the upside of the situation, but the way it was handled makes me question whether this is a company I want to work for, or at least care about.
When it comes down to it, regardless of the buzz words, and relationship building, big business is all business. Even if, like this woman, you had worked for the company for over 30 years.

Its a long story. She needed a couple more years to get bridge benefits. She basically started right out of college and is two years shy of retiree health benefits (which you get between age 55 and Medicare eligibility). It was just handled poorly by those in charge, and makes me that much happier that I will be moving to a different function away from many of these people. My own little universe is fine, but some of the other galaxies are quite messed up.
