What part of India, Deet? How much 'tourist time' have you built into the trip?
Wow, 15 minutes is a short time, but I'm sure you will make the most of it.
Morning.
Spent all afternoon/evening at the hospital. It's just a matter of time now. He has a living will that says absolutely NO interference so they have just made him as comfortable as possible. Could have been a few hours or a few days, unknown, but said my goodbye just in case. Waiting for the morning report.
That is a lot of travel time for wee little speaking time.
And Tink, so sorry. I hope he is comfortable and at peace.

Tink - sorry that you are standing watch. Is he your mom's dad or your father's?
Oh, Tink, I'm sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And big hugs.
Moony: We're going to Northern India, and we'll be there 5 days but w/flying back and forth we'll be gone a week. Flying to Delhi and then on to Chandigarh, where the conference is. Then back to Delhi for a day or two (including a day trip to the Taj Mahal. The real one.) Then home. So I'll be on my own for most of the time in Chandigarh. Should be interesting. I have very mixed emotions about this trip. I'm sort of excited, I sort of don't want to go but I certainly don't want him traveling so far without me, and I don't want to have to listen to him talk about India the way he talks about Australia and Tasmania -- I didn't accompany him on that trip and he's been lording it over me for 15 years.
Thanks everyone.
Moony - my dad's dad. My grandma passed about 10 years ago. It was a true case of a broken heart. 55 years of marriage. We didn't even give him a year after, but despite never seeing a doctor, barely leaving the house and smoking and drinking like a fiend, 10 years. Kind of impressive in a really weird way. Even my uncle and my aunt said it last night, he just wants to get back to my grandma. My heart breaks for my dad since he isn't here and just relying on phone calls.
I'm very close to this side of the family. Mom's side, not so much. I don't even know where her father is living.
D2 - I'm sure you will find things to do. Everyone I know who has been had a fantastic time and said the sites were beautiful.

Y - love it! Very nice!
D2 - 15 minutes of fame!
MT - sorry, hope he finds peace soon!
Soooo, I give up on movies.
The first time I sat down after Chris to watch a movie, there was some random Mandy Moore flick on, and I thought what can be wrong with this? fast forward to a young lover dying in a car accident via tree. and then the next movie was P.S. I Love You, which from living under a rock had no prior knowledge of.
So today, while getting varied reports of Yay he's doing awesome to Boo, its any minute now.... I sat down to watch The Five Year Engagement. Where there are 3 funerals for grandparents throughout the film.
I give up.

Damn, girl. It's like you're a misery magnet. (Don't rent "Misery")
lol, I've heard of that one before!
Just more anecdotes for the memoir....
So for all of J2's rolling his eyes and yelling at mefor filling out the Visa application forms wrong, guess who sailed through the application process this afternoon, and guess which Dr. filled his out wrong and didn't have some of the required certification letters?
He is so pissed off right now he may bag the whole trip, which is fine by me.
And then I went to Macy*s and did a Shira in the Men's Shoe Department. Oh, the SALES!!!

Boy, did I waltz in on the right night.

Brd - Nope, she's not in NYC. She's settled in Los Angeles in domestic bliss.
Tink - Know I'm thinking of you and your family and wishing you only the best.

We went to see it during the hurricane week, but they were having trouble with the projector at the showing and we saw Taken 2 instead
I came across the recipe for my mom's Swedish Meatballs. I've never made them before, but I'm almost tempted to try it. May make a stop at the store after work tonight.
