Thank God none of us at work have kids.
If folks kept to the age bracket listed, it would be fine. But when they're bringing in 4 year olds? I mean, c'mon. It isn't 'Show Off Your Kid' Day!

To hell with the OMS, have a Bellini. Or two.
No kids here except for the ones that work here!!!
Believe it or not, I actually liked when we had official "take your kids to work day" at my offices. They actually arranged for organized events, and the kids got to come to the offices, and it was very humanizing to see some of my co-workers with their kids. (It is a "Show Off Your Kids" event, but I liked it).
We have not done it in a couple of years, but it was nice to see the effort.
I don't think we are doing anything today except working!
Much thanks, Deet.
You, they do have a few organized events...most will go on the tour of the Network Center and will get to learn about and see all the calls being routed across the U.S. and around the world on the huge screen, and will see if there are any outages or hot spots and how that whole thing works. There is a program set for the day.
Unfortunately, you then have the folks that bring their kids in and sit them in a conference room to draw on the white board or run up and down the halls, while the parent sits on conference calls, not paying attention to what they're doing.
But enough (sorry, Deet!) of that.
I'm sitting here rockin' out to Taio Cruz and Jason Derulo.

Shamey, I had to restrain myself from posting that very thing... I came so close!
Moony, bedy! LOL!
As Cookie used to say "That's Hot!"
Girly, I agree with you about 'Take Your Daughter/Child to Work Day'. The original intent was to expose children to different work environments and share with them what the work opportunities were. With organized programs, or even semi-organized guidance, it's a wonderful event. But, to bring 4 year olds in to color, doesn't really do anything productive. It's not meant to be a baby-sitting alternative...
That said, I totally agree with YWIW that being able to see co-workers as human beings with lives outside of the office environement is wonderful. Which is why I love Family Day at the office, which is held once a year.
I'm not in the office today, so am not partaking in any of the activity! Hooray! (But have spend the last 3 hours on my laptop working away... actually very productive!)
Pass the Bellini!
OM!
Some people just don't understand when I say I am not in the mood to just walk away and stop annoying me. NOPE...one of my co-workers just don't know when to stop. I think he forgets that I AM his boss. He keeps this nonsense up I may have to write up his a$$ !!!
I used to love going to my Dad's office for take your daughter to work day. Only one person has children here today but we all know them well so it's not a big deal. Although nothing is being done "officially". Not much really to see.
How're you feeling now, Tink?
It's actually not too bad for me this year, since I'm in an executive area and it's somewhat isolated from the mainstream. Just when I walk out to the common areas, and the cafe is like a zoo today! Glad I brought lunch, and didn't have to deal with the lines down there.
Write 'em up, BD!!! WOOT!!
This day is flying by, which I'm loving. It's already a shorter day for me, since I'm leaving a bit early to head into the city to see Everyday Rapture.

Boobs, I have a feeling I know which guy you're talking about.
I just saw a kid in the hallway with two black eyes.

Boobs, how did we miss that it was Bring a Thai Boi to Work Day?
I want a make-up day.
yay BDJ to N2N!!!! I knew there was a reason i hadn't seen it yet - now i get to see him in it.
I am ok. Craziness. I guess axing 19 people will do that to you. Since we are a creative marketing type of company, they recently realized, hey why arent we using the networks (FB, twitter, etc) that we yell at our clients to use. So now we are setting up an internal Facebook group so that we can use that as a company to brainstorm, etc. Guess who they went to to head up this iniative? lol. So I have spent the last two hours typing up a how to guide for joining facebook and also a huge DO NOT list since we want this internally only. Not the personal accounts, etc. I had to read through a lot of the FAQ and let me just say it is hilarious. FB's answer to pretty much everything is "it's supposed to work this way, but if it doesn't, sorry, not our fault".
Hmm. Might have to go back and see N2N now.
FB page set up. Right up your alley, Tink!!

Girly, I am sure you do know who I am talking about here...I told him to call his wife and tell her that he'll be working late for the next couple of weeks...lol
Poddie...I want a do over day!!! It's going to take time to get my Thai boi here!!!!
Can you get two, Boobs? I could use one.
Well today was the day we convened to pick our classes for next fall, and no one needed to bring their kids to work there, 'cause there isn't a sandbox in the world big enough for that faculty. It was BRUTAL. Two teachers went into a screaming match over a particular class each wanted to teach and at one point it got so bad they had to call in the union rep. I managed to get the classes I wanted, but good God, sitting through that carnage while waiting for my turn was exhausting.
Sorry.
I'll try to make up for it.
