And drunk driving at 10:00am, no less! I read in the article that he had been cited once before for abandoning a child in his car, while going into a bar to drink. This guy needs serious help. I assume there'll be no drinking in prison.

THe guy who runs the bar I work at, his family was in a serious accident on 4th of July. They were heading back from AC fireworks and were hit head on by a drunk driver. His daughter (who I graduated HS with) has a broken elbow and a few other injuries, her husband needed the jaws of life to be removed from the car has a broken wrist, 75 stiches in his other arm and some type of serious leg injury. His children were in the back - a 15 y/o boy who has a cracked sternum. All of his organs rose up and he had to have 11 inches cut from his intestines. He finally got released from the hospital on Friday but has to wear a bag for 6 months. The younger daughter has 3 broken ribs, a punctured lung and a few other injuries. Just terrible!!!

Few things make me as angry as drunk driving. So much trajedy and heartbreak for innocent people that could be prevented.
Just back from a memorial service for staff here. So tragic for her family and young son. A very close co-worker sits two feet from the accident scene and saw it happen -- she's not coping well. Horrific all around. And, yes as Moony said he was drunk at 10:00 in the morning and apparently had a long history of on the job drinking. He apparently was over here to drink more at the bar next to our building.

The bar next to your building is open at 10:00am? McDonald's doesn't even serve lunch until 11:00am!
No, it's not open until lunch time (restaurant/bar) but I guess he thought it would be.

So drunk AND stupid. That's a winning combination.
I am sorry SOMMS. Sometimes (more often than not) I just don't understand people.
Mornin', Peeps.
As if Mondays aren't depressing enough. How horrible!
LS, add rainy days to that. We are having torrential down pours here. Hopefully my yellowish brown grass will become green again. AND I better not get a bill from the lawn guy because there was no reason for him to be cutting my straw.
Somms, I'm so sorry to hear that tragic news. I echo everything that has been said here: few things make me angrier than people who drink and drive.
I can't imagine what a horror is has been - and will continue to be - for the people who were witness to the accident. And how terribly sad it is for everyone at work.
People are so careless when driving. Drunk driving is at the top of a long list of dangers. Talking on cell phones, texting, eating, being distracted with changing music... People need to realize that operating a car is the one and only thing they should be concentrating on when driving. But, we all think we can manage...
I applaud the recent campaigns to try to eliminate distracting behavior.
On a brighter note, welcome home to Deet.
Oh SOMMS, that's horrifying. You all know how I feel about drunk driving. I hope they throw the book at him.
We disembarked at 9:00, breezed through customs and walked into the apartment at 10:00. Completely unpacked now, heading to the dry-cleaners and then (maybe) to the office.
And as wonderful as it all was, I am glad to be home.
Deet, nice to have you back safe and sound!
Welcome home, Deet.
SOMMS - I'm just...astounded and disgusted. The family. Oh, how terrible for then!
Some comfort food for everyone...
Addy, Mac & Cheese...that's all I am going to say. *mwah*
Is this day over yet???
Quick hi to my peeps!
