Stupid connection at work ... been trying to log on for 20 minutes!
Good morning all! I was a bit disappointed this morning, I thought I had one week left before my sabbatical begins, alas it's two.
On other news ... my sabbatical begins in two weeks!!! Five weeks off work, paid. So excited. Cramming a visit to Yellowstone, arts festival during Labor Day, Annie and Frankie and Johnnie... auditions, and possibly Chess and flea market.
poor kid
DD, is that a work 'mandated' sabbatical, or a DD appointed one?

DD, sounds like you'll be having a nice time off. You deserve it!
It's a benefit at work ... which was actually discontinued in May of this year. Thankfully I had accrued most of it (I got 174 of the 176 hours. At 10 years (and used to be 20) we got 22 paid days off, which have to be taken all at once, though we can combine it with vacation. AND because we are still on reduced weekly-hours, I get to spread it a little longer. Yeah!
EXCELLENT!!!
Well, DD, I hope you can also spread it a little farther, like to NYC for the Flea Market!
I know! I've been hearing about this Flea Market since I've been here, and it's about time I partake!
I may be busy the weekend of the Flea Market...I'd make a sad face, but I'd be lying.
Busy or not, you will be sorry if I don't get a chance to a least give you a hug if I make it there.
Unless you're in Thailand, in which case the point is moot.
DD, I will not be in Thailand and so if you're here I will make sure we at least get a hug in.
**walks in and falls over** Don't mind me, just step over me. Feel free to leave a bottle of booze on the way! Thanks!

Sutton foster. Is doing a concert :p
My brain is fried. I don't think I get this sabattical thing. DD gets 22 paid days off IN ADDITION TO regular vacation days? How many vacation days do you get? This sounds like a sweet deal to me.
And the Mika comment cracked me up.

I totally love it, I know.
Oooh, alcohol. So tempting. *looks at the non-worn running shoes for today* Umm, damn. None for me.
Yes girly. At 10 years and 20 years we got a 22-day paid break in addition to vacation. That and the fact that I now have four weeks of vacation make it very difficult to think about leaving my job, though one of those weeks goes towards having to take off the week between Christmas and New Year's.
Unfortunately they have stopped the sabbatical as of May 1 - my anniversary was May 30, thankfully it only cost me 2 hours.
I had the pleasure of seeing 'A Little Night Music' again tonight.
Although, I should more accurately describe it as seeing this show for the first time, because the presence and performances of Elaine Stritch and Bernadette Peters completely transform the show into something so thoroughly magical. I Loved It.
I was captivated. SUCH a different experience than the production with Angela Lansbury (who I do love, but didn't adore in this show) and CZJ (who I did not love at all).
As for the show itself, well... the Sondheim lyrics and music are brilliant. And all in 3/4 time. It has long been a favorite of mine. Each word crafted so perfectly. Each note a gem. I think I shall waltz in my dreams tonight...
If you've not yet seen it, treat yourself... truly.

So that's 3 out of 3 "loved it"s from people whose opinions I value! Must really be a great production. I love it when a show has new life breathed into it.
Brief "good morning" from home today. We had a fierce thunderstorm earlier this morning and I understand that power is out across the county. Travel lights are out, roads are flooded and our office building has no power or phone service - again. Not sure why I'm doing this, but I'm going to head on down to work and wait for the power to come on. I'm bringing my own coffe and the morning newspaper to read.
