When I was there the other night, I was laying on the couch, my eyes closed, and Mr. Frankie jumped up onto my chest and started licking my nose. I wanted to kill him, but all I could do was laugh.

We're very happy with the news from New York today!

We went to the world-premiere of a new opera last night at ENO: TWO BOYS, w/ music by Nico Muhly (very John Adams influenced but tolerable), a libretto by Craig Lucas and directed by Bartlett Sher. I loved it - a very interesting story about Internet intrigue as a detective tries to sort out a possible murder.

Tonight, another opera at ENO: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM; tomorrow afternoon: Sondheim's ROAD SHOW at the Menier; Monday night is BETTY BLUE EYES in the West End - it's a musical based on the film A PRIVATE FUNCTION, and is by all accounts hilarious.

Happy Pride Weekend to all - a real reason to celebrate this year!

Okay, so A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM @ the ENO stunk. I don't think anyone involved remembered it's a comedy.

ROAD SHOW was interesting, but ultimately disappointing. It really felt like a show that has had too many opinions foisted on it and what was left were the remnants of a much larger, darker and smarter musical.

Tonight is BETTY BLUE EYES. We're cautiously optimistic.
