Wow - pretty scary stuff over there

We're far inland and over 1000 feet in elevation, so the waves aren't an issue for us. Plus, they seem to be primarily worried about central Cali up through Oregon - although, as Moony pointed out, the effects felt in Hawaii have been minimal.
I must admit that an 8.9 quake gives me pause for thought. They've had massive ones now down in S. America along the 'rim', and now this. We may live inland, but it's at the convergence of three substantial faults - and we're only a few miles from the infamous San Andreas.
However, those thoughts only have to do with what could happen, not what already has - which is devastating in its scope
