I got my sis and bro-in-law a home microbrewery.

They entertain, and I can see them making homemade beer for their friends.

For the life of me I can't figure out what to get my bro and sis-in-law. I need to figure it out, since I not only have to get it, it needs to be shipped to Indiana. I'm like this pretty much every year. Usually by now, I'm stressing over it. So far, that's not happening. Talk to me in about a week, if I haven't come up with something by then.

Now I'm googling removing Crazy/Super Glue from glass. If I try all the suggestions, the glass will prob disintegrate, and it won't really matter anymore! *headdesk*

went to mall with back up boyfriend tonight. I picked up two pairs of jeans and a polo shirt (well and two pairs of jeans for me, shhhh!), so at least I can say I have SOMETHING so far!

Is anybody old enough to remember....

Getting dressed up before going DOWNTOWN to shop.

Only seeing one Santa before Christmas - and he was in that big downtown department store.

Telling him what you wanted for Christmas and really believing that he was going to try and bring them all - personally.

Going to midnight mass and singing all those gorgeous Christmas carols.

Setting out cookies and milk for Santa.

Laying in bed and really struggling to stay awake and listen for reindeer on the roof!

Waking up really early in the morning and being afraid to walk out into the living room - just in case he HADN'T come.

Having mom and dad go first so they could light the tree. The tree that you hadn't seen yet - because Santa brought it with the presents!

Truly thinking that the beautiful tree and decorations and lights just might be the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen!

Opening the presents and then quickly trying on all the new clothes so you could pick out something to wear to grandma's house.

Then the rest of the day spent with grandparents and aunts and uncles - eating all the good stuff gran had made and having even MORE presents to open.

Finally getting back home - when you immediately sat down at the dining room table and started writing your thank you notes.
(mostly scrawls and mostly in crayon. But it was the thought that counted).

So many wonderful Christmas memories. When I hear the old Perry Como recording of "Home For the Holidays" I'm transported home again (and I do get a little teary!)

Mamie, I still do half of that stuff! With five little ones at my house, we go the whole ten yards, with cookies and milk, plus carrots for the reind**r and sugar for the elves. Nobody is allowed downstairs until mom and dad go first. I still can't sleep on Christmas eve, and I'm 17.

Mamie, our traditions are SO different. For one, we wake up kids at midnight, but they can't open presents until after you have prayed the rosary.
