True. But we KNOW what the outcome will be, and we do it anyway. Silly students.
Oh, I beg to differ. Tonight, LS and I completed 2/3 of his homework for the entire week! Nyah, nyah!
He had help! No fair.
I just "checked it"! He actually WANTED to do it. (He's still at the age -- and in the grade -- when he thinks it's "fun.")

MP, it is appropriate and important for parents to help and check home work! Mrs. Brd has been the home work warden here for years and they all have done very well!
He's very smart and he was giggling every time I pointed out an error and said something like, "Take another look at #8." He always figured out right away what was wrong. And, as I said, he'd giggle as if to say, "DUH! How did I miss that one! It's so EASY!!!" It was adorable.
But nothing beats "...I almost threw up. In a good way." I'm still LOLing over that!

I'm just going to assume that there's no need for me to comment on Shira's procrastination whining.
She needs to remember I'm seeing her in just a few days . . .
What about LS's spontaneous bit of hilarity?

Did you scroll back and read the whole thing? Maybe you just didn't have as ROTTEN a day as I had. It was just the thing I needed to hear to get me out of the slump I was in.
Evening adults.
Back from New Orleans.
What a waste of two days.

YWIW - glad you're home safely - and now it's BEHIND you
MissP - please don't assume anything about the day I may or may not have had. I didn't comment on it, but you pressed it - and I expressed my sincere thought - I'm GLAD it amused you, as you seem to have needed that release. What's the problem here?
Yes, that is good.
And, the fact that I piped up a couple of times, and had those presenting the seminar actually recognize that I knew what I was talking about helped.
If nothing else, it let the business folks know that I do not what I am talking about, and how I am viewed by outside "experts" on the same subject matter.
I actually had a couple of folks from other carriers ask me for contact info.
Everything OK with you?
Q, I meant nothing by what I said. Nothing at all. It was all good-natured and fun.
I was simply saying that maybe something seemed funnier to me because I'd had a very bad a day and it helped me to laugh for the first time all day. It was not a commentary, assumption or anything else about YOU, it was about ME and the lousy day I had. Please don't assume that there's any kind of "problem" or that I "pressed" anything. I don't even understand your comment that I "pressed it." Pressed what?
I was kidding around. Maybe I'm on the wrong thread.
I had oysters for lunch.

LOL, Hep
MissP - no problems - we just seem to be using the board to exorcise some tension, and the currents got crossed. No biggie, no harm, no foul.
Hey, Q!
Massage is particularly good for tension exorcism.

I've been thinking about you, Hep. Our latest issue of "Out Traveler" (a gay travel rag) has a feature on destinations in Australia. They talk about the usual suspects, but in their coverage of Melbourne, there's NO mention of the Aussie Open!
I think I need to write a letter to the editor
I still don't understand "But you pressed it."
There is a wealth of talent at the Aussie Open, Q. I am a bit surprised by the lack of coverage.

MissP - I was only referring to the fact that you brought it up out of the blue - after a few posts of your own on the topic - when I had obviously not referrenced it at all.
That's it. That's all. No big deal - and if you've taken offense, I'm truly sorry. It wasn't intended.
Time out, people. We definitely need a spa day.

I think everythings OK, just some wires crossed. It comes with the territory. I certainly am not bothered.
As to the Aussie Open, I can't quite figure out what the issue is. I know there's all sorts of history with the others, but it's not like OZ sprang up yesterday. Obviously, the tennis community takes it seriously - Hell, they had the highest percentage of top-ranked players involved last year!
All I've ever been able to think is that is has to do with the media coverage. Most of the world lives opposite the time schedule (at least in their own coverage areas,) and they've never been able to figure out how to broadcast and still make money.
You know, we STILL have to press to have the Wimby finals aired live - and convince them that we'll wake up to have 'breakfast at Wimbledon'.
Somewhere in there, the sport still exists - for those that care.
BUT, I have to say that the shots they took of Melbourne were LOVELY
Tennis in Australia has quite a history. The first major tournament was held in 1880 and the event that evolved into the Open started more than a century ago. Today's Aussie Open is more laid back than the other Slams. Players and spectators seem to enjoy it - many players list the tournament as their favorite.
As to broadcast schedules, now the rest of the world knows how we feel. Just about any sporting event occurs in the middle of the night. I grew up as a tennis nut. I can't tell you just how many school nights were ruined over the years.

Oh, I'm with you on the scheduling difficulties! And you're right, so many players LOVE that tourny! And honestly, when you look back through the history (short though it might be - and I mean of tennis in general,) and see the likes of Rod Laver dominating the books - well, how can it be denied?!?!?
And you KNOW how I feel about Mr. Rafter - AKA the husband I should have had
