I won't look pitiful. If anything, I've learned from SOMMS to sit out there drinking a bottle of whisky from a paperbag.
Speaking of which - are those two still alive over there??
And Shameys - no firefighters - on Friday I have a reunion of all the TS employees. The count is up to 63 ex employees showing up.

I couldn't take it anymore and sent a text late last night asking if they were still in one piece. The reply back, an hour later was, "LOL yes". They should prob be in Thailand now. These will be the days we need to really worry about.
Anyone else having trouble getting their PM box to open? It worked a few minutes ago, and now I can't get back in.

Two weeks of meetings in Chicago and then I THINK there will be rest. In the meantime, there are happy plans to look forward to!

Girly, I'm not.
I was supposed to go, but NBC is doing some strange things with the taxes on the trip this year, so I opted out.
I'm disappointed, as I think being in Beijing for the Opening on 8-8-08 would have been a once-in-a-lifetime, but, I wasn't willing to absorb the taxes for a legitimate business trip (trust me, escorting clients is work - even if it's overseas!) into my personal finances.
The funny thing is that when I initially thought I was going, Boobs and I laughed that I would be flying to China when he was flying home... Now we'll both be in New York, so that's a happy consolation.
I think I'll have an 8-8-08 viewing party. I'm hoping I can talk a certain favorite friend who is an amazing cook of Chinese food to host the party with me! Authentic!
I'm also sorry not to be there for some of the sporting events. I LOVE the Olympics - the pomp and circumstance, the tradition, the emotion, the flag waving... and the medal ceremonies. It would have been fun to be there in person again. I'll just have to watch on TV. Which will be just as exciting...

Good things tend to happen on 8/8.
So here's my "oh brother" moment of the day:
My boss (the one who's leaving) is having a colonoscopy this morning. She just found out that she needs to bring someone with her. Guess who's driving her there and sitting around for 2 hours? This must be those "other duties as assigned" in my job description. She promises to take me out to lunch afterwards. Oh joy.

DG, another consolation is that everyone talks about the air quailty in Beijing... (I keep looking for things to make me feel better about not going).
Watching on TV will be wonderful. I'll cheer and nobody will tell me to be quiet!
It's amazing that they were able to align the Olympics with such a profound date in Chinese culture. Lucky 8.
And, yes, for lots of reasons, 8-8-08 is a fabulous day this year!
