Moony... "oh brother"
Look at the bright side: bring a good book and enjoy some peace and quiet for a bit!

Wow. Moony, that really is an "oh brother" moment.
peace and quiet, my...well, you get the idea.
i took someone for a colonoscopy and this dear person wailed like a banshee throughout. i went in to see if the person was ok and, well, let's just say i shouldn't have.

I grabbed a book from the school library (I wish I had brought one of the ones I got for my birtday) but I don't have my glasses with me. This should be interesting. Boring, but interesting. At least I'm not the one at the end of the scope!

I just had a colonoscopy recently, and I didn't have any issues at all. But going out to eat afterwards wouldn't have occurred to me.
I'm sure this is happening to Moony because we're all ASS CLOWNS.
That was my experience, DG. No issues at all. In fact, it was a non-event.
I just didn't make any plans afterwards, and felt sleepy, but it was fine...

Yeah, the "going out to eat after" thing confused me, too.
Morning, folks! I hope everyone is having a good day. Or at least in better shape than I am! I think a caffeine IV is very appropriate today.
Well, I'm where I need to be, and J2 is on his way to his meeting.
Addy, if it's any consolation, a friend of mine recently returned from Beijing, and the first thing she mentioned was how poor the air quality was and that she had difficulty breathing while she was there.
There was a story on the poor air quality on yesterday's evening news. In fact, the vision suggests that 'poor air quality' is being extremely polite. If they can't clear the problem by August, I just don't know how asthmatics, distance runners, triathletes, road walkers and road cyclists will be able to compete without risk to their health.
I'm sorry, but it makes no sense to me that they would pick a country with poor air quality to host the Olympic Games. Oxygen is kind of important, no?

Not to mention the whole human rights thingy . . .
Bingo! It was a ridiculous decision by the IOC.
Human rights? What?
Mornin'.
Shira, I'll explain it to you when I get back to NY. But in a nutshell, you won't like it. It interferes with your whole "servants" concept.
kinda like when libya chaired the un human rights committee? or pretty much anytime the world's nations get together and proclaim that all of the world's problesm could be solved by a) putting george bush in jail and b) wiping israel off the face of the earth. the olympics are a joke and have been since the world sat there and watched the israelis massacred in '72. or could it have been the way they blithely ignored the east german oping scandals? the only thing i enjoy about the olympics is watching the us swimming team spank the rest of the world.
I was in Beijing about 3 years ago, and the air was disgusting.
Some distance runners are not even competing because of the air quality. China should never have received the games - the combo of their human rights issues and air quality should have disqualified it immediately.
My only hope is that with all of the western journalists there, someone will be able to get more truth out about how the government really is, and the human rights abuses, as well as the discrimination against various religions is perpetrated routinely by the government.
On a happier note - I will be looking a bit north east this morning and afternoon, and thinking of the grand time DG, D2 and DG's bro will be having. I am not sure Pasadena will ever be the same!
And Mooney - eek - lunch after a colonoscopy - I would have given you a gift certificate or movie passes...
yeah, i was in beijing in november and it was abyssmal.
I think Shameless is the Idina fan. If so, this for her. It is kind of sweet - her fans put it together for her birthday.

I would just like to thank papa for giving me the mental image of the swimming team being spanked
Hmm, you know that we have a few decent swimmers, too. Don't count those damp chickens just yet.
YWIW - Pasadena had better be prepared. Today may just be a taste...
Well, I will keep my fingers crossed (selfishly. It would be wonderful to have you two out here.
Enjoy!
Off to work - type you all later!

Bye, YWIW.
Pasadena will never know what hit it.
It's a BIG consolation that I'm not going to have to deal with the poor air quality. Seriously. When I told my Dad (who is an MD) that I wasn't going he was happy and relieved.
The Human Rights issues also stand. I also question why they gave China the Olympics in the first place...
On a brighter note, hope the West Coast folk all have fun!!
