Cookie - this was my first vacation in 4 years. I take 'vacation days' here and there - usually to get something done. This time I turned off the cellphone and had no internet access. No one at work could get in touch. OK, my boss did call at 6:00pm the first day (a Saturday!), but after that they left me alone. I've rarely been out of touch with my office.....and yet THEY survived and I thrived. I'm going to do this more often.

Oh, I can't complain then, if Moonie hasn't taken a vacation in 4 years.

I've taken vacation days too, for long weekends and what not.

Dottie and Boobsie: I just feel I need to 'do' something if I take a week or more off. Aside from traveling, which while delightful, also requires $$ to be suitably saved up to do so.

And so, I think I've accrued up to a months worth of vacation time...

I tossed and turned all night, fell asleep sometime near daylight, slept through 4 alarms, and woke up at 9:45 AM. I could've still went in to work, but I said screw it. I think I'll go shopping for the cutie's first birthday present(s). I have to also pick up my watch at my cousin's that I left there Saturday when I went to her pool. Think I'll use the pool again, today!

If I don't take my vacation by the end of the year I lose it..so I take it..most times I don't even go away...always something to do when you own a house.

Oh, sorry about that Cookie. I know I'll be working my butt off this week as they both prepare to go away.

I was so much better about taking vacations when I lived in NYC (twice a year). That could also be because I had a lot more vacation time then, and also worked a 4 day week, so every week had a long weekend.

My vacation to CR in June was my first true vacation since New Year's 1999/2000. Most of my vacation time is spent running back and forth to see my sister, or going home for some event, which is not really vacation.

And sometimes taking time off from work is detrimental... I just end up having to work twice as hard before I leave and when I get back.

That's always the irony of it all, isn't it DD?

You take a vacation to relax and unwind. But all the stress and work to get things done prior to the vacation, and all the stress and work after the vacation to catch up...
