Good morning all. It's Friday and this hellacious week is coming to an end. The weather is cooler (and dryer) and the coming rain has given the morning clouds a beautiful pink glow. Things WILL get better.

Deet - I never realized before just how terrific the words to that song really are. Very, very appropriate.

Somms - I'm guessing that the question mark in the middle of the 'pieces of eight' item was your addition. I remember when I was little people used to always call a quarter ($.25) "two bits" and I asked my teacher why. She told me that when the old Spanish coins were minted, they had light indentations made that made them look like a pizza - divided into eight sections. When they used the coins to pay for things, they could actually break them along those lines - literally turning them into 'pieces of eight'. If you took our silver dollar and divided it the same way then two of those 'bits' would equal a quarter.

(I'm having lots of childhood flashbacks these days. This one came when I read your post.)
