The generation gap in here is reminding me of the 5 years I lived at the Grand Canyon. Commonalities are coming harder and harder to come by.

*raises hand* hello? I'm here too! I also remember the 80's. The 70's, even!

I don't think I've felt the generation gap as much on this board as I have with the poll about best musical that's up now...man. I was ready to put myself in a nursing home with those comments.

Sueleen,
I misssed it. I was too busy reading Hedda Gabler and thinking what she did with those guns wasn't such a bad idea!

Maybe we should have an ongoing thread for people born before a certain year...

Maybe your cut-off should be drinking.
Because legally, I can smoke.
And I don't think you want me to taint your little adult party.

Actually, I'm thinking the cutoff is menopause.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, smoking :) Good times, good times.
Remember when there were no warning labels put on cigarettes?
We just puffed away!!!
Faded memories, but, I will have a cigar now and again.

For those of us who can remember current events before 1990, I give you Chicago:
Old Days
Old days
Good times I remember
Fun days
Filled with simple pleasures
Drive-in movies
Comic books and blue jeans
Howdy Doody
Baseball cards and birthdays
Take me back
To a world gone away
Memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days
Good times I remember
Gold days
Days I'll always treasure
Funny faces
Full of love and laughter
Funny places
Summer nights and streetcars
Take me back
To a world gone away
Boyhood memories
Seem like yesterday
with an encore of Mary Hopkin:
Those Were The Days
Mary Hopkin
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
Think of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
