The no remote thing still boggles my mind...having to get up to change the channel. How did we stand it??!!
Remember when the Betamax first came out - I think they were like $1,000. Shortly after the VHS came out - and none of our Betamax tapes worked...
Undiscovered - Robbiej's probably watching in horror!
When people log in tomorrow it will take them hours to catch up!
Sony Betamax and the movies cost over $75 to buy and they were obsolete the next year. Yes it's in the basement

It took us a lifetime to create it, they can spare a couple of minutes to catch the highlights!!
Mine too.
I keep saying that one of these days I'll transfer my Beta tapes to VHS. I can't even imagine that it's possible now...so much for procrastination...
...and I just realized that I jumped TWO categories in this thread alone. From understudy to featured actor. Do you think I have a good memory??
Maybe if I email myself this thread...I can tuck it away for my twilight years when I can't remember anything...LOL!!
I had a camcorder that was huge. I took it on a family vacation and hauled the darn thing around like a backpack! And the battery lasted about a minute...Some things do improve with age!
They wouddn't dare delete this!
Indeed. Like us.
And on that note - I'm going to turn my coputer off for the night - because the lighting is flashing a bit too close, and with my luck I'll have a powersurge and lose everything. And this is too good to lose!!
Thanks for the memories...I'll join again in the morning - when another posting frenzy may begin!
Way past my bedtime. Goodnight all and happy trails to you until we meet again!

I love this party...we need to rest up and start again soon.
I think RobbieJ should change the official title to something like "Teachers' Lounge" where all the "old folks" hideout for a bit before facing the rest of the crowd... :o)
You guys are my heroes! Just like Mighty Mouse and Underdog!

My favorite were the ones w/ the Peanuts on them ( I loved Snoopy, Woodstock and Sally best) Had to re-bring this topic back to the top!
My stupid mean mother wouldn't let me watch Dark Shadows.
Ran home from school everyday to watch Dark Shadows...I wanted the ring that Barnabas Collins wore.
I was always to scared! Barnabus freaked me right out!
Wow! So many snippets of songs all jumbled in my head now. You guys covered everything! All I can come up with is Chrissy and Velvet dolls and Turkish Taffy that you had to slap on something to break it up into pieces. Anyone remember Family Affair and Mrs. Beasley or Petticoat Junction?

Growing up I had a friend that looked just like Mrs.Beasley..even wore the same glasses...I still remind her until this very day.

Oh I loved Chrissy dolls. I had Chrissy, Kerry, and Baby Chrissy. You yanked furiously at their hair and it "grew."

And then twisted the knob to shorten it again...
And, speaking of twisting...
Do you remember "twist and turn" Barbies...after the original which was completely stiff... and then talking barbie and Action Barbies' whose limbs you could bend (and break, I discovered.)
One day my mom was so bored she actually organized my sister's and my dollcases: hung up all those clothes on the teeny hangers, paired up whatever shoes she could, then lectured us about keeping Barbies' closets neat...the woman was loosing it...

O.K. Maybe I dreamed this, but does anyone remember a late Friday or Saturday night show called Now Explosion? I vaguely remember psychedelic lights flashing while the current hits of the time were played. I wasn't allowed to stay up to watch it, but I used to turn my t.v. on and keep it real low.
