"I have lived here 17 years and I STILL cant find Mexican food like Im used to"
I ahve a friend who grew up in AZ and she says exactly the same thing. I don't understand that. Is it just that the chef's in resturants are not Mexican and therefore can't cook authentically, is it that they can't get the same ingredients here or do they try to cater to the taste of East Coasters?

AZ is where I grew up too....Growing up my family's best friends were Mexicans, so I KNOW mexican food. My friend Pat, who was the Mother used to make tortillas by the dozens...we would roast hot peppers on the griddle and put them in the tortilla with a little butter...that was heaven on earth...

I have a woman who works up in my office (she's Ecuadorian) and whenever I'm up there and we order lunch she'll ask the people what their nationality is that are preparing the food. So one day we were ordering Mexican and she asked her usually question and they responded that they were Chinese and she asked them what they knew about cooking Mexican food. It really was hysterical becuase she just went on and on...I kind of felt bad for the person on the other end of the line.

Boobs, it's the Chinese guy's fault for not being quick enough to say "Mexican, obviously"
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Bobby I've eaten there many times when Michael lived in Hells Kitchen. It's okay, but there hot sauce leaves a lot to be deisred.

do you mean TaCocina? i haven't eaten there yet, but redhot used to live above it... the last "mexican" we had was at El Azteca, unless you count Fresco Tortilla a couple of blocks up, although they DO make their tortillas fresh right in front of you (if you're watching)... i miss my mommy's cooking...

Somms, darling, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend and the other things that happened.

It's called AGE, my dear friend.
I had 20/20 until my last birthday - and then with the flick of a switch - needed reading glasses... Can't wait to see what Mother Nature throws at me next...

Yes it's age. I recently read that most people need at least reading glasses at or shortly after age 30. I'll let you know when I reach that age.
