Did someone say karaoke??? Believe it or not, despite my amateur diva-like craving for the spotlight, I have NEVER been to a karaoke night!
Good afternoon, Nina! How is your day going??
Oh rath darling you in for a treat !!!
Hello Nina my lovely Siren.
My day has been as hectic as usual, Pip. Have any of you gals ever dealt with dress fittings? Such an annoying task made even worse when you are having kick pleats put into them and they have to be done just right.
And how is your day going, Pip? I'm sure you can't relate.
Hello Boobs. I feel like it's been a while since I've seen you around.
Is there some kind of karaoke party being planned, Boobs? When am I in for a treat?
I have no idea what kick pleats are...but I'm sure they must be important!
Nina, I get SO impatient with dress fittings... Ugh!!
This afternoon is so dreary...am treating myself to a cup of hot cocoa. Yum!

hello all.
I am posting in this thread in an attmpt to get FindingNamo to threaten me in this thread like has has in others and get the whole danged thing deleted.
How is everybody today?
It is dreary in DC too - and none of my dresses fit. I can only imagine that the only thing worse than having the kick pleats put in is having to press them.
Adgal - I'm on an Ewa Podles kick today, that woman can belt when she is in the mood, can't she?
BT - she can! I may have to listen to her when I get home...
although tonight at 9 I'll be tuned to PBS...so I won't be able to listen for long.
Pressing kick pleats is the WORST! I made the stupid mistake of buying a 100% linen kick-pleated skirt a few years ago... UGH!!!
Pip, as a way to help further your education, I'll explain. A kick pleat is a pleat that allows a dress to open more fully espoecially when you are dancing and have to kick. It keeps the dress from restricting the leg in a costume where the dress isn't full enough or doesn't have a slit.
Nina - skip the kick pleats and go for the slit that chita used in your icon. She has full range of movement there!
Adgal - I was in a bit of a huff and Ewa's "Venti Turbini" worked wonders.
Thanks...I'll tuck that infobit away somewhere... Maybe it will be in a crossword puzzle or something...

I usually send my kick pleated skirts to the pros.
BT - there will be NO more huffing today!
By the way - has anybody noticed that
1) they fixed the 'last comment' link, so you can go right to the last page
2) PMs now show your icon...
they've been very busy around here....
BT, I normally do slits because they allow even better movement and look sexier. I just just thought I woulkd have this particular dress done just in case I want to use it.
NY, you don't iron them, you send them to the cleaners and let them do it.
I agree that a girl should always have some kick pleats ready, just in case the occassion calls for it! I may not wear them, but I certainly do appreciate them on the dance floor...
Nina - that's what I did... and it cost a fortune! My dry cleaners loved me...
BT - love pleats on the dance floor... Makes twirling so much fun! (sometimes I think I'm still 6....)
BT...you in a skirt; pleated or otherwise...is not part of my mental image of you...
Well, I have been working out the legs a lot - but I don't think I'd make a pretty woman. Ask Matt, I think he'd agree.
oh, Pip. I think it's what I love the mostest about BT!
Addy - I'll wear a skirt just for you. I will definitely have kick pleats because I can kick, honey!!
The higher the better!
And, I DID ask Matt...
So - should I make reservations at the Rainbow Room for us?
I believe they are adding kick pleats to women's military uniforms. And female naval officers no longer have to carry granny bags...
I love pleated skirts(well not really!) I spent way to much time in them as a kid in Catholic school.
