Smokin!

Aww, DG...thanks for sharing my pain. :o)

Well...he may have eluded my grasp this time but there
will be other opportunities for me to prevail (heh heh heh)

You can run but you cannot hide, Mr. Wilson. If I can learn to post an avatar and a picture on the BWW messageboard then anything is possible. Bwahahahahahaha!

*smiles demurely and goes back to reconciling her invoices*

Students Protest Direction of Country

BOULDER, Colo. (Nov. 5) - About 85 students remained holed up inside the library at Boulder High School early Friday, saying they're concerned about the direction the country is headed and refusing to leave until they've met with leaders from the Republican Party.

Some of the students involved in the protest, organized after President Bush won re-election to a second term on Tuesday, placed calls to Republican politicians and left messages.

"We want them to reassure us that our fears are misguided and that the government is doing everything in its power to prevent our futures from being destroyed," said senior Brian Martens.
The students said they were not protesting this week's election, but said they were worried about the huge national debt run up during the first four years of the Bush administration, along with military recruitment in schools and other issues.

The students, who brought sleeping bags and enough food to last through the weekend if needed, said they wanted to talk to representatives of GOP Gov. Bill Owens and 4th District Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, R-Fort Morgan, who sponsored the failed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

Students began their protest on Thursday. Boulder police verified with school security officials that the students were allowed to stay overnight and into Friday. Representatives of 2nd District Rep. Mark Udall, D-Eldorado Springs, and U.S. Senator-elect Ken Salazar, D-Denver, are expected to visit them sometime during the day.

Boulder High teacher James Vacca expressed pride in the students for staging the protest.

"In an age where narcissistic college students riot in an inarticulate drunken stupor, you have students here at Boulder High School, principled, thoughtful and yet scared of four more years of pre-emptive war, the Patriot Act and an increase in militarism at school through the No Child Left Behind Act," he said.

Great article, Bboobs. Thanks for posting it.

Over these past few days it occurred to me that we are darn lucky to be living in this country. Even with all of its problems and looooong learning curves, we do have it pretty good in so many ways. Just think of what the response there would have been in other countries to the results of an election like last Tuesday's. Riots, coup attempts, military police action, looting, splinter groups seceding...

While half of us are not too pleased with the hand we've been dealt, and we are using our Freedoms of Speech, Assembly, etc to be sure folks know about it, we are quite civil compared to how we could behave. And, the "winners" are not feeling so empowered that they've launched a military campaign to roust and punish those who did not vote for Bush.

Don't get me wrong. We have lots of work to do and we need to "gird up our loins" (roll up our sleeves) and get busy.
However, I could be typing this from some bunker while shells explode outside.

Just my two cents on a cloudy Friday.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Aw, DG...I'm glad you enjoyed it. He's a great performer.

I have hearted Donny since I was 13. He beat out Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy! I decided right there and then to marry him.
Unfortunately he never got the memo. LOL!

Au contraire, mon Bboobs (the French is in honor of Addy. the bad French is because I studied Spanish in HS and College.)

Patrick will realize I've honed my "skills" in order to be the best/most ardent fan...devoted follower...alleged stalker he has ever had. (I can fax my resume if he wishes.)

Yeah...and note that it's "ALLEGED"--at least until after the verdict is rendered.
