I just saw this in Daily Variety. She apparently died on 4/1. Anyone else remember how promising her career was with Frank Perry's chic movie version of DIARY OF A MAD HOUSEWIFE? I'll never forget that film, very hip for its time, and still sharp in its satiric look at domestic life on the Upper WEst Side of Manhattan. She had remarkable potential, never quite fulfilled, despite a handful of respectable supporting roles. How sad. 57 or 58.
I remember her distinctive, sand-papery voice, and in DIARY, her real and altogether unique chemistry with the young, intense, oddly attractive Frank Langella, who played her brief distraction from the yuppie husband from hell, Richard Benjamin.

She went into WHITE CHICKS (Remember that funny little play? Brilliantly performed initially by Susan Sarandon and the great Eileen Brennen, then many, many replacements.) She wasn't entirely at home on stage, but still managed to be fascinating.

How horribly sad. She was so good in "Diary of a Mad Housewife."
I've never forgotton that film. I can still hear Richard Benjamin calling for his wife to fetch him something "Tinaaaa, Teeen, Teeen" I'm so upset to hear this. Life is so cruel.

Posted: 4/17/04 at 10:35pmI was a big Carrie Snodgress fan! We discussed her death on another board, and someone pointed out that she and Neil Young never actually married-I have no idea. That entire movie, "Diary" was brilliant! Langella, Benjamin and Snodgress were each perfection in their roles. I can't wait until they air it again on tv. How sad she died so young.
