Did anyone watch? What did you think? I wasn't blown away but I thought it was fun. I'll keep watching for the time being.
With the exception of Lucy Lui I don't recognize any of those other actresses.

re: Cashmere Mafia#2
Posted: 1/7/08 at 12:01pmI watched, thought it was 'cute', nothing spectacular. Frances O'Connor was in the films Persuasion and the remake of Bedazzled among others, and Miranda Otto was in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and War of the Worlds among others. Bonnie Sommerville is a name I've read but haven't seen anything she's done.

Bonnie was on the last 2 or 3 seasons of The Practice, I think.
Edit: Nevermind, I'm wrong. Wasn't her. It was Jessica Capshaw.
Somerville's bio says she was on a few episodes of NYPD Blue and The OC.

Posted: 1/7/08 at 1:26pmI really enjoyed it. Not a work of genius, but it's an entertaining show that's a whole lot better than most other current shows.
re: Cashmere Mafia#5
Posted: 1/7/08 at 2:13pmmattonstage, Frances O'Connor was in 'Mansfield Park', not 'Persuasion'. Sorry that's just the nitpicker in me.

Posted: 1/7/08 at 2:46pmBonnie Sommerville is a TV character actress who always plays the same character - a gorgeous blonde. I think she's best known for playing the gorgeous (smart) blonde on GROSSE POINTE and one of Ross' gorgeous blonde girlfriends on FRIENDS.

I caught the first half hour of the show. A little slow...not rocket science, but enjoyable enough. The last half is on the TiVO, to be watched sometime this evening. The whole thing, along with Dirty Sexy Money, made me realize one thing:There really are no ugly people in NY.
I don't the ladies have as much charisma as their foul-mouthed counterparts on HBO. In fact, this show is just a sanitized version of Sex and the City...only not as smart.
Good to see NY actors getting airtime - Anna Camp, in particular. She played the blonde nanny.

Posted: 1/7/08 at 6:23pmI tivoed this. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, though. I am looking forward to it. I knew Frances O'Connor looked familiar- she was in Iron Jawed Angels.

Just watched this. I agree with Yankee that it is a sanitized less smart version of SEX & THE CITY. Still pretty enjoyable though-- if utterly predictable.
I knew Lucy Liu would get the account, I knew Tom Everett Scott would break up with her because of it, I knew Miranda Otto's husband was cheating on her when she mentioned he had a business trip, and I knew Frances O'Connor's husband would get the job. I think we all saw these coming.
Otto is playing a more interesting version of the role she did in THE STARTER'S WIFE. I enjoy her work a lot and really liked her in this show.
I'm a huge fan of Lucy Liu since ALLY MCBEAL, nice to see her back on TV after her great guest-starring role in UGLY BETTY.
I also enjoyed Bonnie Sommerville, yes she is playing the role she always plays, but she plays quirky and funny very well.
Frances O'Connor has the boring, predictable, "great businesswoman mom with kids and a busy husband" storyline that Felicity Huffman already played so well in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. She's kind of the weak link among the four.
I wonder what the NBC alternative, LIPSTICK JUNGLE, will be like.
re: Cashmere Mafia#14
Posted: 1/8/08 at 10:01amTotally predictable, I agree. And empty-headed. I don't think it will be much of a hit. And I hated Otto's character--that voice affectation she has is too Samantha Jonesish and false.

I actually think Lipstick Jungle is probably going to be better. It's got a great cast with Brook Sheilds and Kim Raver.

This didn't do anything at all for me. It was just copies of this and that from this and that old show... And none of it done quite as well as the originals. (And frankly I thought their personalities were very cliched too.)
I guess I'll be keeping my TV set on TCM.
A click for life.

Frances O'Connor also played the mother in A.I.
I saw her as Maggie in an exquisite production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in London playing opposite Brendan Fraser.

Posted: 1/10/08 at 1:58pmI found the 2nd episode much better than the first. I think this show has some real promise.
