Nevermind: it didn't work.

"I'm gonna get you, Sukkah" look

This is my sweet baby Tootsy (Roll). She's over 20 lbs but I don't know her exact weight right now. The vet wanted her to lose some (slowly) and told me to take her off of dry food and only give her canned. The standard dry food has a very high fat content while canned food is primarily water. She's delighted with the change.

"There were two BEAUTIFUL siamese sisters in a very large cage. I wanted one so bad, but when we went over to them, they both hissed!"
Doodle - Siamese don't do well in shelters, unfortunately. If you ever see them again in the cage, please don't let their hissing deter you, LOL. In real life, they are love-bugs. If you had rescued them and took them home, they would have become your best friend within 24 hours.
Unfortunately a lot of Siamese owners and breeders can tell you that the cats don't respond well in a shelter environment, and often these beautiful cats end up being put down because they don't get adopted. There is something about their personality that they really do freak out when caged in a strange environment, moreso than other breeds. I witnessed this myself with one of my Siamese cats. He was the biggest love-bug, but when he had to be caged at the vet hospital, he would hiss and growl at the vet technicians. They told me that nobody wanted to work with him. I was flabbergasted when told (they had a "will bite" sign on his cage), because in the 15 years that I had him, I NEVER saw him hiss. He was the most gentle sole, but apparently he would turn hostile when caged in a strange environent. (Sounds like me, LOL.)

Just to add my two cents worth on the weight issue. My previous cat, Mex (who had to be put down in 2003 at age 18 ) was a heavy cat. When I moved to Croatia (work reasons), my new place had stairs. I noticed within a few months that Mex's weight had dropped -- he was looking very slim. I put it down to the stairs.
This is a photo of my cat Loki, who came to me via my sister. A cat full of personality, he's always talking, especially when it's time to eat.

To clarify, Lauren...I would never disparage siamese cats, I've known some great siameses...but the techs at the ASPCA, including our cats' foster mom.
It wasnt even that they hissed, but that we saw the two we were destined for.

How are your cats litter box habits? My cat was losing weight like no tomorrow but with no change of scenery, he was also going out of the box [ which is apparently a bad sign - of course my Vet is a **** and said it was normal] it turns out he had cancer which had spread to his bones aswell.
He passed about a year ago- and now his sister is starting to lose weight and I'm having near panic attacks anytime she goes to the box.

This is Mr. Howl.
He wishes he could go to the office...
And he likes salty snacks...
No wonder he's almost 20 pounds

I have not seen any litter box surprises - so I am hoping it is just the change in scenery and the stairs - the vet said to keep an eye on him, and I will.
He does jump all over the place, so maybe he is just getting fit and healthy.
Diva, those are beauties.
