This is a tabloid rag but still a fun read. Young Hollywood would NEVER allow this, no matter how successful Chris Nolan is and how much $$ The Dark Knight brought in. Still, its fun to dream.
Cher 'to play Catwoman' in next Batman film

The 62-year-old singer and actress is reported to be in talks to play Catwoman opposite Christian Bale in the third Batman film from British director Christopher Nolan.
The Oscar-winner will join a cast that includes Johnny Depp as The Riddler as she plays the whip-carrying burglar. The character has also been played by Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.
A studio executive said: "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years.
"The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."
Filming of the new Batman instalment, provisionally entitled The Caped Crusader, is due to begin in Vancouver early next year.
The Dark Knight, this summer's blockbuster, has become the most successful of the Batman movies. Warner Bros expects the film to make about $530m.
It stars the late Heath Ledger, who was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after taking an accidental drugs overdose. His performance as The Joker is widely expected to garner an Oscar nomination.
Cher's recent acting performances have included Tea with Mussolini in 1999 and Stuck on You, in 2003 in which she played herself.

That would certainly be interesting.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh too funny
I hope Catwoman sings and wear Bob Mackie costumes with feathers and sequins. I think it could be kind of cool. An older Cat woman. Chris Nolan does not do what you expect, so I think this could be interesting if true.

That is going to be hilarious, are changing the genre to comedy?
If this is true I will protest the next film.

Not me, if it does happen you can bet my ass will be at the first midnight showing.
This would be just about the one thing that would get me to watch this movie after the three hour torture that was THE DARK KNIGHT.
Was Jack to old to play the Joker? Cher does not look 62. She still has a great body and I think its great the director is considering her and making his consideration public. Cher is a great actress and I miss not seeing her in any decent movies anymore.
Can Cher's face even show emotion anymore? With all that Botox she would be better suited for Mr. Freeze.
I love her to death. Always have, always will. But she passed "actress" about three surgeries ago.

The thread title makes me laugh more each time I see it.
Who knows, besty? That might just work for Nolan's Catwoman.
My interest in anything other than the 1960s television show would register in the negative integers; but Cher, as Catwoman, might get my ass to see one of these stupid things. Not that I care about Cher (you couldn't give me tickets to a concert), but the whole ridiculous idea is incredibly appealing to me, in the same way that say, the film The Astounding She Monster is appealing to me.

I would assume this portrayal would be of Catwoman on about her 7th or 8th life.

What upsets me the most is that it's filming in Vancouver. I understand WHY they'd shoot there... cheaper. But Chicago's scenery really enhanced the first two films for me.
I find it strange that Hollywood actually thinks that anyone who watches their films or television show believes that they are in an American city. It never, ever looks like anything but Canada. Why not just set the piece in Canada. I find I'm constantly taken out of a story that is suppose to be in the U.S., while looking at what is obviously Toronoto!
And do they really need to save money at this point?
Flashback to 1981... Cher was briefly on the short list to play Grizabella in CATS. Now, it seems, she really will be "the old glamour cat..." Why not? But I bet she's more than a bit like Norma Desmond, too, no?
Wow, they've been talking about Cher as Catwoman since the Michael Keaton movie came out. Some rumors die hard. However, I'd be open to this interpretation of Catwoman... so would more people than one might think given the ever growing popularity of the MILF (GILF? GGILF?). Of course everyone would like to see Angelina Jolie slink around, but that's just too predictable.

Hell, they might as well just use Julie Newmar or Eartha Kitt, if that's the concept (and fan base) they are going for.
This would be the most insane casting ever. why nott cast liza or midler as batgirl! has to be a joke.

Oh, great, along with Christian Bale, another cast member who can't move their face. Will she be speaking in a low droning monotone, too?

IT seems like the role Hillary Clinton was born to play.
Did we learn nothing about Heath Ledger? People can shock us.
