7 miles out right now, but grew up in the city in my earlier years. Great city. Not to take anything away from NYC as I love New York also. You really can't compare the two.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 10:15pmWhat do nice apts cost there? Say a large one bedroom with a terrace? The food is on par with New York and they have Broadway in Chicago. Any info?

Too broad of a question, check here. These are the most popular areas of the city. Hope it works.

Posted: 7/14/06 at 12:25amChicago rocks. If it wasn't for the cold I would live there in a heartbeat. Corine; there are alot of new construction apartments around parts of the lake. It is so ******* cold around there.... that who knows; they might not be that expensive.

It's a shame Cabrini Green no longer exists, it would've been perfect for you. Good times.
Chicago is a fantastic city, and its citizens know it's fantastic and they're not all stuck up about it. That's what makes them great.
But Corine, you WILL gain weight there. But the good news is that there's a bar called Side Tracks that is FILLED with your kind of man and one night a week you can go there and sing showtunes!

What are you paying now? And how big is your place in NY? Rent in Chicago is probably not as high as NYC, but they are raising all the time.It all depends on where you want to live but if you want a large one bedroom with a terrace I would plan on paying at least $1200-$1500. If you want a lake view, and who doesn't?) it'll cost you more.
Corine, when are the new video interviews coming to the corner? And are you ever going to fix the captions to the pictures and put full names and identify everyone in the photos?

Posted: 7/14/06 at 10:24amCorine, honey, is this some sort of sneaky question to gather information on other posters? Because we've read your heart-wrenching tales of woe and the gnashing of teeth over your joblessness, cashlessness, manlessness. We'd all just hate to see you living on the streets in The Windy City.

Posted: 7/14/06 at 10:26amHey, don't knock Chicago's streets. They are probably cleaner than some people's apartments.

My life is in NYC.
But I did send a few resumes out in Chicago so you never know.
I think Sue can stay in the suburbs. I am a City Gal. If I lived in Chicago it would be in the heart of the City.

No Boobs, I said I live at the side of the tracks.
Corine, what do you pay in rent now and how much can you afford. The "heart of the city" is very expensive. Especially for a single gal. Were you planning on having a roomie?
What were the jobs you sent applications for? I do have SOME connections to the biz!
