The Sun-Times has reported that the owners are considering another radical change to the tower, recoating it silver. The move could save energy as well as promote other changes the building is making in a bid to win new tenants.
I just heard about that silver thing last week. I'm curious as to how it saves energy. This whole renaming thing is so ridiculous. I really hate it with the theatres. Pretty soon, I'll be working in the Trojan tower and seeing Billy Elliot at the Massengil Center.

Posted: 3/12/09 at 3:03pmNobody knows or cares. It's not like anyone will actually call it the "Willis Tower", least of all Chicagoans.

I hope everyone's been practicing their Mandarin pronunciation guide for future building renamings!
But at least there will never again be a Galleryfurniture.com Bowl.

Posted: 3/13/09 at 10:08amAs far as saving energy goes, maybe making it silver will help reflect light instead of absorbing it so they don't have to spend as much on air conditioning during the summer? Then again, that may mean higher heating costs...? Who knows. Just a theory lol
