Aesop's Fabulous Fable Factory. It's a cute show about a group of people, essentially a story-writing "machine". They each have various jobs i.e. grammer guardian, character builder, etc., and they are led by Mr. Aesop himself. Their one problem is that they need someone to form their morals. Enter Monroe, a boy (ours was played by a girl) who happened upon the factory looking for something "New"(the first song in the show). The "machine" tries to convince Monroe to join their group by telling them various fables (The Ant& Grasshopper, Lion and Mouse, Country and City Mouse, etc.). The songs in the show are actually really good for children's theatre, and they are a lot of fun for the audience. The cast is, I believe, about 8-10 people, although our fable characters were broken up to accomodate for about 20. It's a great show, and a lot of fun for kids. PM me if you want more info.

If you want to do the ugly duckling you may want to look into Honk Jr. Its the musical version of the ugly duckling. But I do believe that it has over 10 characters.

Others that are good are

Dear Edwina Jr.
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Beauty and the Beast
Alice in Wonderland
Captain Louie
Where the Wild Things Are
Also think about performing some of Shell Silversteins poems. gte the books Falling Up, A Light in the Attic, and Where the Sidewalk Ends.

agh, double post. Have you looked into Broadway Jr. shows? It's the company that set out Dear Edwina Jr. and Honk Jr.
Here's the website

If you order from that site all your students get really cool bumper stickers that say "My Child is a Broadway Junior Star" Updated On: 5/5/06 at 06:22 PM
