So I was thinking of getting a part time job to supplement the income for the coming Holidays. After reading Santa Land Diaries, elf is not an option! I hate sales work and can't make a frappaccino to save my life. What do you all do if you are short of cash and need some extra money to buy your Honey something nice that he deserves for all his love and support?
When you find out, let me know!

Upper! Lower is too dirty.
Seriously, what about catering companies that need extra help for holiday parties?
I wouldn't mind doing something with yarn. It is so soft and comforting and quiet.

Ticket Scalping. Seriously, there seems to be no limit to what people will pay for tickets to a hot concert or hit show and the police seem to turn a blind eye, only "shooing" the scalpers away from the lobby. Every weekend there is a man who is selling Wicked tickets for abotu double face value. I've seriously thought of buying a pile in the next block and starting to do the same.
True story - I was working on a benefit once where one of the stars (this is a big Broadway star) decided to try and sell an extra pair of tix she had acquired (we had given to her) for friends who didn't show up. Right at the door. Genius!

Joe - my friend's friend lost a 200K job for scalping his firm's Red Sox/Yankees ALCS tix last year. The buyer got drunk and told Steinbrenner's daughter that she was a biotch.
JoeKev has a point--I thought about doing that with some of the gay events here in the city. Like when you can buy in advance for $50 but it's $75 at the door--you could make a killing!
And that's your friends fault, Brdlwyr?
I'm considering ticket scalping, although more legally through ebay. I paid $100 for Wicked DC tickets and seats much worse than mine for the show are already going for $300. That's a hell of a profit.
Now I just have to figure out how long before the show I should put it up. I want to wait long enough so that people will be desperate and willing to pay anything, but not so late that the person won't be able to get them in time.
Now there is an idea. I could just enter the Wicked lottery everyday and sell them for a butt load if I ever win! But it might be to hard for me not to use them myself!
And Corine, that is a good suggestion, but I could never come up with any good questions.
Clean you house really good then sell the stuff you don't use anymore on eBay.
beware ebay. i purchased tickets to the producers when brod and lane were in it. i went to see it but wound up selling two pairs of tickets and made about $700.
a few months later, madonna came to town. i bought extra tickets to sell on ebay. i lost my shirt big-time. i couldn't give the tickets away. people "won" my auction and never paid. people "won" and backed-out at the last minute.
i learned to beware the lure of ebay and that nothing is a sure bet. listing fees (no matter how small) add up quickly if you have to re-list your items. and people suck. musn't forget that people suck. one guy who stiffed me even had the nerve to leave me bad feedback!
I just realized..I work on 42nd St.....I guess I can make some extra cash on the way in.
Or on the way out...as it were.
