Veanne Cox is also in the one with Bernadette. I didnt realize until I was walkin throught I lobby of my dorm and saw her on.
Go out and buy the Leslie Warren version - its one of the best made-for-television musicals I've ever seen. How can you watch Leslie well-up with tears when she think's she won't ever see him again at the end, and not totally start crying, yourself?
Celeste Holm is the quintessential Fairy Godmother - a glint of humor and mischief in her eye, but full of love and good thoughts and SO radiantly beautiful. Ginger Rogers is the perfect Doting Queen-mother, and the added song for Stuart Damon - Lonliness of Evening - is one of the most beautiful ballads ever. I can't even sit through the Brandy version, knowing that truly Good theatre like the Warren version exists.
And Leslie is amazing - even the short solo dance she does in the back yard after the ball, showing off those mile-long legs and all that grace - just stunning.
And DR. ALAN QUARTERMAINE is the prince!!!!!
Yes! when he was young and cute!
It's perfect.
And brings back HAPPY childhood memories!
He's still cute.
Well said redhotinnyc2!
LAW was a student at SAB and by the looks of her solo in CINDERELLA would have been in NYCB had she not opted for acting. I've not seen this version in a long time but I recall a neck as long as a swan and Ms Warren having not yet had her teeth fixed. She must have been quite young.
Not for me, NYad. That was playing on TV the night the kidnappers came back for me.
That was the best night of your life, Matt_G.
Yes - the teeth always bothered me a little big - but if thats the only quibble with the entire production - then that says a lot about it! She DOES have the longest neck in the world!..and Pat Carroll as her sister - god I love that woman - the looks on her face whenever her knee "creaks"...priceless!
I think the teeth added to her charm. But I also wish Cher had never fixed hers, so perhaps I'm unusual.
I don't mind the teeth in CINDERELLA.
Was Ms. Warren still a teen?
Pat Carroll and the knees - LOL!!!
Hey - here's a piece of trivia that I don't know the answer to - related but unrelated, if you get my drift. James Mitchell was in the Original cast of Carnival. What character did he play on the soaps and which soap was it? This has been bugging the heck outta me.
(I say this because Rath made the correlation between Cinderella and Dr. Alan Quartermaine)
All My Children...Palmer Cortlandt.
And if her boss is out sick today, she can watch AMC. :)
I don't watch that show - I just have a sick head for trivia. I wish I could remember important things, but I can't.
And my boss wasn't out sick that day, she was away on business. Which she is again today, so if you don't behave, I'll be describing today's episode of Starting Over on this board.
Then I'm misbehavin! :)
PALMER CORTLANDT...oh my GOD - thank you so much. I have been wracking my brain trying to think of it! Now HE was one sick f**k...and that creepy housekeeper of his - THOSE were the good old days of Soaps...LOL....
OK Rathnait, what was the real name of the Mrs. Danvers of Courtland Manor?
Oh believe me, redhot, there's some sick stuff on GH too...otherwise what would be the point of my watching?
Rath - I should have known - if its SICK - you MUST be watching it!LOL....
You got it, cutie!
where else would folks like you and I get our sick senses of humor?
It's Myra Murdoch. I sort of have that trivia thing too.
Oh sorry Glebb - didn't read your question till just now.
