Colleges!!!

I know that it has already been discussed about theatre colleges, but because many seniors are hearing where they applied to (E.D), I was wondering, where you applied, and where you got in? And if you didn't apply ED, where do you intend to apply?
awkward.

re: Colleges!!!

What state are you in?

Does it have to be in-state or are you willing to go out of state?

re: Colleges!!!

I applied to two major universities and to two private colleges. I was accepted to three, except a major university - ECU. ECU held their decision and wanted to see my second semester grades - but I already made a decision where I wanted to go, so it didn't matter.

re: Colleges!!!

Applied to: CCM, Northwestern, NYU, Northern Kentucky University, Kent State University, Loyola Chic, DePaul
SAT:1380
Major: Musical Theatre
Accepted so far: Northern Kentucky University

Auditions for musical theatre are in the late winter/early spring, so I won't find out for a while about the others. I hope to go to CCM. FYI, NOrthwestern and NKU don't require auditions.

PJ, GOOD LUCK with CMU. If you're going into mucis of any sort, that is.

re: Colleges!!!

Good luck, guys! PJ, I almost went to CMU. re: Colleges!!!

I applied ED somewhere... didn't work out so well. Best of luck to you all, though. And, if things don't pan out now, it's not the end of the world. I know it's corny and cliche, but everything really does work out for the best. You WILL be happy come next fall. re: Colleges!!!

re: Colleges!!!

Though I am not a theater major (as I hope to write a successful show, since the whole lack of talent thing hinders me from performing), I'm applying to:

U. of Richmond, William and Mary, Loyola in Baltimore, Syracuse U., Ithaca College, Fordham U., Boston U., James Madison U., and have been accepted into my only state school, U. of Pittsburgh.

re: Colleges!!!

I have had a bit of experience with the Music Theater program at Northwestern. The students are gay-friendly and really have a passion for musical theater history as well as performance itself... but one thing I noticed (and I'm speaking in terms of a 300 level course that I was in back in 2002) was that even within the program, there seemed to be cliques! Nerds relegated to the back of the room, the more attractive kids at the front, etc.

re: Colleges!!!

EvelynNesbit, isn't the seating normally opposite of that? lol

re: Colleges!!!

Well, on the whole it's a geek school so whereever you sit, you're interested in the material (I mean, who takes a music theater course just because they needed a distribution credit? LOL). But it was obvious then that there were factions within the program, and I could tell that some of the Music Theater students were insecure -- which surprised me a little given all the hype over David Schwimmer, Megan Mullally, etc. being NU Theater alumni. Northwestern's Theater program is definitely one that attracts a variety of people. Meeting many of the students off campus, you'd have no idea that they're theater folk.

re: Colleges!!!

My dad went to Bowdoin! To far north for me though. I'm a junior right now so not applying yet, only looking. My favorite college so far is Barnard/Columbia, either one.

I hope you guys get into whatever colleges you want! I'm sure you'll be happy wherever you are.

re: Colleges!!!

i'm only a junior, but i've already started looking!
I have already narrowed it down to three schools-
Muhlenberg College (my sister's school)
Gettysburg College
Franklin & Marshall College.

And my major? as I'm only a junior, havent totally decided... Probably major in history, minor in theatre.

I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.'
