I will second the motion for pizza; preferably thin crust. I do not care for reheated pizza though. It must be fresh from the oven

Another comfort food is White Castle Burgers a/k/a as "Belly Bombers".

That was a freaky movie iflitifloat!
I hate when the dead mother keeps popping up as a ghost. I'm a jumpy person. lol

Another comfort food of mine is fetucinni alfredo. I loved it when I was younger, then hated it for about 10 years, and now I love it again. But it's one of those things you can only have a small amount of because it's so heavy in your stomach. :[

They just don't make soda like they used to. Here are some comfort drinks:

Cherry coke: 1 Tblsp. maraschino cherry juice stirred quickly in 8 oz Coke

Vanilla coke: 1/2 Tblsp. vanilla extract stirred in 8 oz Coke

Chocolate soda: Squirt some chocolate syrup (U-Bet or Bosco) in a tall glass (doesn't matter how much). Pour in some seltzer water (doesn't matter how much). Top it off with milk. Take a spoon and stir as fast as you can until your hand begins to cramp.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

At the risk of sounding like Jessica Simpson, what exactly *is* chicken fried steak....chicken or beef? The question is not as ridiculous as it seems. My mom used to make a dish called City Chicken...which was actually veal. Go figure.

I'm a Southern boy. I can eat just about anything with cream gracy. Favorite breakfast - biscuits and gravy with sausage (the real patty kind, not the unsatisfying links).

Chili's has excellent chicken-fried steak. They're pretty much everywhere. Go out and try it if you've never had it. It's worth the trip.

Dallas BBQ's Early Bird Special. For 8.99, you and a friend get soup, half a rotisserie chicken, choice of yellow rice or baked potato and cornbread. God, I could live off of BBQ's.

I'm with Matt on really good biscuits. Southern cooking in general is my comfort food. That and my grandmother (Syrian, not Southern)'s mashed potatoes.

daddy used to make every once in a blue moon, ground beef in a cream sauce over toast. now there was a spectacular name for it ... something on a shingle. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re:

Here's a childhood comfort food

3/4 cup black coffee (yes, I drank coffee as early as grade school; yes my chest is hairy)
1 Sleeve of Saltine crackers
1 can of Borden's Condensed Milk

Take a small handfull of Saltine crackers and crumble them into the black coffee. Spoon some condensed milk over the crackers and coffee. Eat with a spoon. As you work your way thru the Saltines, add more Saltines and more condensed milk. Repeat and continue your way down the cup until you've consumed the entire sleeve of Saltines, nearly the entire can of condensed milk and oh, the 3/4 cup of coffee.

Try it, it's delicious! (As is the haddock sandwich in HOW TO SUCCEEED...).

Bulldog

p.s. not all of my comfort foods involve crackers: Ritz, Saltines or otherwise.

Buy the Automat book & use their Macaroni & Cheese recipe. If done right, you will be in heaven. Let me know when you do it as I'd like to drop over. Haven' had a real good macaroni & cheese since God knows when.
