He's saying no to the 12:05 offer. His statement seems pretty on point. I really wish NBC had just axed Jay.
Conan says see ya...
He is a class act.I can only pray people boycott Leno and his ratings bomb.Wish Dave could land him a job at CBS. NBC and Jay really need to be exposed for the jerks that they are!
Best of luck, Conan. You were screwed and you are classy enough not to screw over Fallon.
You're right, it doesn't actually say he's leaving but he is saying that he will not take the 12:05 spot.
Now NBC can just give Jay The Tonight Show back and Jimmy Fallon will stay on as The Late Show host...it saves them money.
So while it doesn't say he's leaving...there's no other spot for him. I'm pretty sure he'll end up on another network...probably Fox.
Why does Jay Leno get whatever he wants?
..and I love that Jay is making jokes about NBC like he's the one being treated unfairly. Not buyin' it, Jay.
he'll fit right in on faux! the little ginger!
I feel really sorry for him. He was royally screwed.

1) Jay Leno didn't cause this, NBC did. I can't stand the guy but he's as screwed as Conan. He's a company guy and always does what NBC wants. If NBC told Jay his show was canceled and he was the new weather guy on the Today show, he'd be right on it.
2) Conan couldn't beat Ferguson. What made NBC think he could beat Letterman?
I don't know if Conan could have ever beaten Letterman but I do believe he could have built a respectable audience if given the time. And without the dreaded Leno lead in.
Jay Leno chose to leave The Tonight Show. Didn't NBC try to get him to stay on?
No. Jay said he was going to leave in 2009 six years ago...that's when they offered The Tonight Show to Conan. As 2009 came close Jay had second thoughts...so they ended up giving him the 10pm slot.
nobody beats craig ferguson. if i ever get famous i am going to give him the exclusive interview and never talk to anyone else.
Just don't bring Ferguson the liquor!

Ferguson's monologue is the best of any talk show host ever.

NBC SUCKS! SERIOUSLY! If it weren't for Community, 30 Rock, and SNL I would boycott NBC all together.
His monologue last night, where he slammed NBC a total of was probally something he did knowing that he would be leaving anyways.
I can say this. I WILL be boycotting the tonight show. Even though Jay is not that bad, I like Conan better, and I hope NBC sees how much assholes they were (though they probally won't). It's unbelivable that after 17 years with the network (25, if you count his SNL days), that they can't have enough faith in him. They stuck by him before when things looked bad, there was no need to move Leno up to 1130. Half a year just isn't enough time to build up a show like this.
God, now I'm starting to feel like Max Prince from Laughter On The 23rd Floor, the way I'm ranting about NBC. But Conan made the right choice by leaving.
Whatever his next move is, I hope he comes back to New York.
Too bad we won't see how Conan's show would do with a GOOD 10 PM lead in. All the affiliates lost viewers for their news programs after Jay started his new show. Once people click to another channel they seldom click back.
Jay was forced out after making a ton of money for NBC over the years
The suits @ NBC caused this problem so let them figure it out. Conan probably goes to Fox. He will come in 3 rd but will be better than the umpteenth reruns of Seinfeld they currently air.

In my fantasy Conan is going to go back to writing for The Simpsons and bring that show back to where it was during those amazing early seasons when he was on the writing staff.

Ferguson's monologue is the best of any talk show host ever.
Of course! It's so simple! All Jay Leno needs to beef up the ratings of his 10:00 show is to do his monologue into a fisheye lens while nervously backing away from and then coming back to the camera!

It's not a fisheye lens. And walking up to the camera is not anything new. Letterman did that on the old Late Show all the time.
Of course, you offer no discussion of Ferguson's monologue, which is unlike any of the others on late night. But you knew that.

It's unlike any of the others in late night, you're right about that. You're entitled to your opinion, but I find his monologue to be way too jittery and shaky. It's downright unnerving. I like Ferguson himself (his "we sucked at the same damn time every night" speech a few episodes back was inspired) but calling it the "best monologue ever in late night" is pure hyperbole.

And you're entitled to be a delicate little flower.
Ferguson flies without a net and is the best natural comedian of all the late nighters on the big three.
