re: Congratulations to Brit Brit#9
Posted: 9/20/04 at 9:50amYes. I think that's what we forget when we trash her - she wasn't exactly brought up in splendor - she was brought up with no money and very little education (due to her career and her parents' 'encouragement' of same) in a little tiny town in LA. I don't know why we expect her to suddenly become Grace Kelly because she has money.

Posted: 9/20/04 at 10:11amGood point Rath. I don't expect her to suddenly transform and possess an overwhelming amount of class. However, I do feel that with celebrity and fame comes responsibility. Obviously, she disagrees and wants to live her life, disregarding the abundance of fans who idolize and want to mimic her every move. She has so much power to do wonderful things because of her fame. I think it's a shame she does not exploit this, but exploits just about everything else.....just my $.02

Posted: 9/20/04 at 10:30amIf you expect that of her, then you have to expect that of every celebrity. If kids are truly looking at celebs as their life role models, then there are going to be problems. Most people, celebrities or not, are living their lives for themselves and doing what they need/want to do. I think we as a society need to look up to real role models - family members, church and synagogue leaders, Mother Theresa, etc. Not singers, actors and athletes.

Posted: 9/20/04 at 11:08amI agree with you and it saddens me that actors and athletes are some of the most highly revered individuals by young adults. However, it is reality and although my expectations may be unrealistic, I certainly applaud those celebrities who do use their fame for good.

Posted: 9/20/04 at 12:37pmUm ... I actually think thats just like an after party outfit. Eonline said she wore a strapless monigue L'huilier dress and a veil with a tiera, and the guys wore tuxes. Those pics, while totally trahsy looking, I think aren't from the actual ceremony. I certainly hope not!

Sorry but I dont agree with the arguement about why she is trashy.
I was also brought up by a single parent with no money in a tiny town, and one thing my Mom taught me was how to have dress, act, and present yourself with class. I don't believe that she doesn't know better. I believe it is her own choice and the way she acts and dresses in her eyes is probably just a style statement that she thinks is cool.

If being white trash is what she thinks is cool then I truly pity her!
Also NewYorkUniq brings up a good point. Having money doesn't make you classy or not. And if it does then she should be the classiest gal in town now! I think she just has really poor fashion sense ... and decision making abilities......
