I read an article in my local paper about Anwar Robinson, he works about 10-15 minutes away from my school (and my personaly favorite to win).
These are some excerpts from the article.

"It looks like the men outclass the women this year. There are already six men who seem like lokcs to advance, based on talent, favorable editing, or both: Robinson; Constatine Maroulis, who tries a little to hard to convince people he's a hard rocker; Anthony Fedorov, nicknamed "Tracheotomy Boy"...; Scott Saval, who looks like the guy from "Sling Blade" and sings like Aaron Neville; Justin Guarini lookalike Mario Vasquez; and David Brown, another dreadlocked soul singer with a killer voice"
"...leaves out Nikko Smith...Judd Harris...Bo Bice, the other long-haired rocker, who has a better voice and seems more authentic that Maroulis but lacked the same air-time."
"These are all raw amateurs....Maroulis was the lead in the touring company of "Rent" (a fact he'd rather people didn't know sicne it clahses with his rocker pose)...."

I want to write music. I want to sit down right now at my piano and write a song that people will listen to and remember and do the same thing every morning...for the rest of my life. - Jonathan Larson. Tick, Tick...BOOM!
