So I was in a packed theater today watching THE SIMPSONS MOVIE again and during a scene where two male cops start making out and go into a bathroom, the entire theater let out a collective "UUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!" What the hell?
Has anyone else experienced this as well?
Yes, with Brokeback. HELLO, didn't you know what you were going to see! I hope you kicked all their @sses.
you went to see the simpsons movie. did you really expect the audience full of frat boys and 30 year olds who live in their mother's basement to have a mature reaction to a movie based on a cartoon?

LOL!
Well it wasn't an adam sandler movie. I wouldn't expect that level of homophobia from a Simpson's audience either. Maybe a few people, but not a collective "UGH".
Anyway, This has happened to me before when gay jokes appear. There's not much you can do, I mean the joke is obvioulsy designed to elicit that exact response. I blame the movie (which I haven't seen so I'm only going by your description) for setting up such a blatantly homophobic punchline.

My friend onced asked me if I thought anyone went into a movie like NORTH COUNTRY and completely missed the point of it? "Man, the first hour where they kept playing all the pranks on the women was hilarious! It was like JACKASS! But then they started with the legal stuff and it got all boring."
I'm sure some people did, but hopefully neither you nor I would ever know those people.
I experienced a very awkward time during Brokeback in theaters. The audience would awkwardly laugh at times that were obviously not funny. I don't remember exactly, but I do think they laughed, at least some of them, when Heath punches the wall.
They laughed at random times like that. So awkward.
The thing is it was a joke, it wasn't a romantic moment so I would expect a reaction. That doesn't make it right but it came as a bit of a shock (there was no negative reaction at the cinema I went to though)
I HATE it when people yell 'UGG' to me when I'm going into a public bathroom with a guy I was just making out with... in public.

me too.
Actually, when I saw Brokeback, the guy behind me laughed hysterically at the "serious" moments too. Now because I dislike that movie, I found it funny, albeit kind of odd
Is it wrong that I laugh during sex?

Sure there were a few muffled laughs here and there when I saw BROKEBACK but, ultimately, I think the most disturbing moment came when my friend jumped up (SPOILER WARNING) when Jack was killed and said "I think they killed him because of that horrible moustache!". And my friend IS gay!

There was only laughter during that scene when I saw it. Granted my theatre was filled with nine year olds singing the spider pig song...

Two people "uggggh"ed during the Simpsons kiss when I saw it. They happened to be young women. So there goes the frat boy theory!

Did the women live in their parents' basement?
