According to CNN, the Crown Princess tipped over at Cape Canaveral.
Some quotes:
"It felt like (the ship) was going to fall over," she said. "It was shocking."
"Chris Broadbent, a 33-year-old honeymooner from New York City, said Tuesday night's movie on the ship was supposed to be 'Titanic.'"
Why would they show TITANIC on a cruise ship?

the title of the thread is a little misleading, the ship didn't tip over, it it began to tilt to one side before righting itself.
And it's really shame that Princess Cruises is getting all this bad publicity cause they really are a wonderful cruise line. I never had a complaint on either of the 2 cruises i took with them.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 5:21pmWell, yes fiction it is expensive, as all cruises are, but if you are willing to give up an ocean view (or a view of any kind) and go with an interior room (cause really, its like vegas, you only use to room to sleep) you can fine cruises for reasonable prices. It really starts to get out of hand (price wise) when you start taking the planeed excurions from the cruise company and the ports of call. If you take a cruise, find out your ports of call ahead of time and research activities on your own and make seperate plans or explore on your own. Oh, and stay away from the art auctions, they are addictive.

Mr Sondheim, I'm sorry I don't know the correct nautical terminology for when a ship does something besides sail.
And what was the first thing you said?

My parents are on a cruise in Europe. In their cabin, they get the daily newspaper kind of thing.
I knew she had to hear something about it in the news but I sent her the article in an e-mail. Oddly enough she thanked me- she wanted to read the whole article as the newpaper thing she gets is just little bits and pieces of what is happening.
In December we [our family] are planning to sail from the Carribean to San Diego on a 16 day cruise- on Princess...I'm a bit skeptical. We usually sail princess- I've been on 13 cruises and 9 of them have been Princess so I'm pretty sure all will be safe and this was a mishap- it was a new ship...

Two people have now posted alternative terminology and yet for some strange reason the original title of the post remains the same. I guess it's more dramatic that way. More people will view.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 5:48pmShowing Titanic on a cruise ship is so tacky. Why not just show The Poseidon Adventure on the cruise ship? Or United 93 on a plane? Who wants to see that ****?

Posted: 7/19/06 at 5:56pmI've been on Princess and they're very nice. Still, this reminded me of when we were trying to leave Melbourne (at dinner time) and the entire ship leaned over quite a ways. I think we were very close to having a few glasses tip over. It was morbidly fascinating to watch the angle of my water change...

Wonder how many attorneys were on the pier soliciting people for lawsuits & how long it will take for the first suit to be filed. I am guessing 48 or 72 hours from now
Besides the movie topic itself, isn't it a bit dated ?

Yes. Every cruise I've been only only shows movies that are about a year old, if that.

Someone who my neighbor works with was on the ship with her husband, 2 kids and parents.
She was in the boutique on board and she got pinned when one of the jewelery cases fell on her. The ship was tilted for only 40 seconds but she said it felt like it was hours. She ran to her stateroom and her kids and husband were fine. Her husband was on the balcony and got thrown backwards into the sliding door *thank G/d not the other way* Her parents were in the casino and they were thrown off the stools. The worst happened on the pool decks because things could easily fly around (chairs)- and people were thrown out of the pool along with the flooding water. She says that she will never go on another cruise. She only took 1 other one 25 years ago. The cruise line is giving all the people a free cruise but she says "There is no way!"
