What a great start for America's favorite team! Let's count the All Stars! 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8!
Every game is like a playoff game at Wrigley.
Next Year is Here!
Go Cubs!

This could very well be the year. I was just discussing this with my bro. Imagine, exactly 100 years later.

Posted: 7/15/08 at 8:47pmI was in The King And I when they lost the game they needed to win in order to go to the World Series. There were reports of portable TVS in the lobby and some in the Theatre. I did see a bright light come from a seat at one point.

I'm going to a Cardinals-Cubs game next month at Wrigley. I'm thinking about bringing a black cat to set loose on the field. Or maybe I should be more creative and come up with a new omen.
I'm a Cardinals fan through and through, and I have little doubt in my heart that the Cubs will somehow fail again this year. However, should they not fail and win it all, I'll be the first one to stand and applaud.

Actually, I've never gotten the goat thing. I know the story, but I never got how that could've been a stronger curse than the Bambino or the Black Sox - both of which were actual baseball-related curses. Not letting a dude with a goat into the ballpark? I don't know about that...
I am really excited for that game. I've never been to Wrigley before, and I also went to the Cards-Cubs game on the 5th when Kerry Wood gave up three runs in the 9th. That was a great day!
brdlwyr, which game are you going to? I'll have to check again, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to the Sunday game. I'm hoping that's the start of another historic collapse, weather I get to be the cause of it or not!

Jam, I am on Friday.
Now, the Cubs somewhat deserve it, because the Billy Goat is one of my favorite Chicago spots!

Cubs come from behind tonight! Zambrano gets yet another hit, but does give up a bunch of runs. September will be very difficult. The schedule favors the Brewers.
We need to sweep the Pirates and take 3 of 4 from the Phillies. We have six with the Brewers in September! The Season might be decided in Milwaukee during the last series.

My father is a lifelong Cubs fan, having grown up in Gary, Indiana. He and his brother used to skip school to go to opening day, and there now is a brick in the pavement at Wrigley that says "Skipped school Opening Day '57" and his name. He plans his vacations around the Cubs schedule, even waiting to visit his new grandson in Atlanta until the Cubs were in town.
I always have said that my dad would have a heart attack and die the day the Cubs win the World Series. I thought he would love forever ... now I am not so sure!

Posted: 9/10/08 at 11:56amWe do have solace in that the Brewers are also in a major slump. The Cubs/Brewers 6 games will obviously decide the Division Champion!

I was at Wrigley Wed and Thu for the Brewers. I am sure that it was fun on Saturday!
It is funny that we play the Mets and the Brewers this week and have a part in their destinies!
