Did anyone see last weeks season finale?

This may have been the best Curb season ever. It is a shame there are only 10 episodes in each season. I have them all on DVD

I actually thought that this was the weakest season yet. I've given Larry the benefit of the doubt for the past two years, but this one really didn't do it for me. It's a shame, since the idea of "Larry and Cheryl adopt an African-American family after a hurricane" was so inspired.

Unfortunately, the only one who lived up to the standards I was expecting was the incredible JB Smoove as Leon, who actually rivaled Chris Williams (Krazee Eyez) for my favorite guest character. Smoove was so good this whole season, in fact, that I think he could easily win a Best Male Guest Emmy.

Part of the problem was that the show this year focused way too much on Larry, who is not funny alone. He is only funny with his foils. Getting into a fight with Wanda Sykes over a parking attendant. Having Suzie scream at him over a stolen necklace. Etcetera.

The "Cheryl leaving" subplot should have been introduced much earlier. Larry's date with Tia Carrere and Brenda Strong were the high points of the season. Think how great it could have been if every episode had him on a horrible date.

As for the finale, the only worthwhile part of the episode happened to be the last 10 minutes. Cheryl's envious look as Larry connected with Vivica A. Fox, followed by the final sequence of Larry and the Blacks was, quite possibly, a high point of the series.

I enjoyed every episode with the exception of the last two. Also, I couldn't agree more...Larry David is not funny without his supporting cast. Susie Essman is fabulous!!!! Did she ever win an Emmy for this show?
