There has been so much foolish talk about Madonna's new CD around here, I am shocked that no one has mentioned the truly talented Cyndi Lauper. Her latest CD, which includes acoustic versions of many of her hits as well as a few new songs, hit stores yesterday and it is wonderful.
So, while many of you are battling over which is the most mediocre song on ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’, I shall be gleefully listening to an album full of exemplary tracks.
There’s not a dud among them.
Now THIS is news! Thanks, Sammy, I will definitely be checking this out.
I LOVE Cyndi Lauper. And she's fantastic live. I just wish this cd had some more original material on it.
I LOVE Cyndi's last cd. Her "Unchained Melody" is a revelation, and until that version, I despised that song.
I'll be listening to this AND to the stellar (in no way "mediocre") new Madge album.
Cheno, you know I love ya, but this is the CYNDI thread! Begone with your talk of that other one who has plenty of threads devoted to her already!
I know, I know. But SHE started it! *points to Star Jones*
love Love LOVE Cyndie. I didn't even know she had a new CD! Have to get it today. I have worn OUT 12 Dadly Cyns and Sisters of Avalon. I wasn't as much a fan of At Last. I think my faves are by Cyndie are "Sally's Pigeons" and "I'm Gonna be Strong." Man, if you haven't heard "I'm Gonna Be Strong" you need to download it. Her voice is amazing. So much feeling.
It's sad that I knew nothing about this CD until today.
I knew she had a new CD, but I am broke until tomorrow. Wehn I get paid, I will buy it and probably love it because Cyndi is a true artist.
Ohhh, I can't wait to get this. As much as I love the old "She's So Unusual" stuff, I absolutely adore "Shine."
Anyone catch her at the Equality Forum in Philly last year? Absolutely beautiful concert, completely acoustic. Mostly just her playing and singing.
A truly talented and creative singer/songwriter, not like most of those whiny young women who are around lately.
(I wish she had gotten Mrs. Lovett.)
(Ditto)
Well, I'd be happy if we just got her on the stage in something.
Now I MUST go buy this and Bette Midler's new one....Voiceanth can keep Madonna's.
Well yes, because Voiceanth is the only poster who keeps those Madonna threads going...all by himself...
well, I'm gonna be super greedy...I've already got Madonna, and now I'm on my way out to get the new Cyndi and Bette!
(I would have loved to have seen Cyndi as Mrs. Lovett, too)
How perfect would Ms Lauper have been as Mrs. Lovett, as least we might have understood what she was singing!.
Looking forward to getting the new c.d.
Just got the CD(after the idiot at Best Buy couldn't find it, but that's a different story.) So far, I am loving it. Time after Time with Sarah McLachlan is orgasmic.
She can probably replace La LuPone, and still get nominated for a Tony for it...
