No. I mean in public. Singing for 40 people at Hammerstein's is in private. This person performed on a television show.

Hmmmmmm i was gonna say Leslie Goodwins. She sang a song on "Topper" but im not sure he wrote it. I'm gonna go with Striesand?
okay, if it's Streisand (or however the hell she spells her name), what song was it, and on what did she sing it?

Well I am assuming it was her tv special "My Name is Barbra" but she was on the Jack Parr show before that so I dont know. That is my guess
No. Actually, it was Julie Andrews, on the Gary Moore Show. She sang "Love I Hear", whilst 'Forum' was in rehearsals.

How could Forum be the first Sondheim song on TV? What about Gypsy and West Side Story?

well...this thread was jacked to all hell!!
You're all a bunch of threadjacking ho-bags.
LOL!
This is a great show--the arrangements are stunning. I think fans of Madonna and those who aren't fans will enjoy the show. It's great music done very well.
Very true, Jerby. The first time, having only a passing familiarity with Madonna's music, I went because it was David's show. I have returned, and will go again, because it's a really entertaining show with terrific arrangements.

Who did Sondheim"s arrangements? IS it the same guy??
Oh, and it got jacked, because threads with Madonna as the subject, aren't very interesting, thus their vulnerability to jacking.
Just because her name is in the subject line doesn't mean that this thread is about her. It is about the talented Mr. Gurland and his fabulous show.

Is there a farting Madonna "cover " show - That could be fun too!!!
Hey! I like the I'M BREATHLESS album with the Sondheim songs.
Especially "He's A Man", though not written by Sondheim.
But that "I'm Going Bananas" and "Cry Baby" scare me!
VOGUE is a total outcast on that album. Shouldn't be on there.

Sondheim WISHES he wrote "He's a man"!
Somdheim wrote music and lyrics for his High School Musicals, so technically they would have been performed before things from Forum...

o they really do THAT man's musicals in High Scholl?
Who would get them? Understand them? Who would be able to be impressed by his overuse of a diatonic scale simply because he can???
Start your own damn thread. This one is now officially about David's show, not the old lady and the genius.
Right. This is a Sondheim free zone now. It's all about the Gurley Man and his fabulous show.
Some people have nothing better to do than jack a thread when it's about a subject they have nothing upon which to add. And so they do.
Having seen Neurotica, I'm emminently qualified to comment, especially as I'm no Madonna fan. I'm currently futzing with my schedule so that I can return to this show. It's absolutely fantastic. David's rendition of "Frozen" alone is worth any cover and drink minimum.
And let's not forget his take on Oh Father which brought tears to my eyes, it's so beautiful.
So who is going to the first show tonight?
