I now arrive in DC on the 23 in the morning... red eye. Ugh. But I'm speding New Year's in town now. Yay!

I'll be leaving for NYC on the 28th in the morning... taking the express bus. It's only $35 round trip; can't beat that. (well, hoping to... tickets are not being sold yet)

DD - my mother in law took that bus to NYC to meet us and she loved it.

Moony... I am so looking forward to meeting you too.

For those interested, I'm taking the Washington Deluxe. It leaves like three times a day from DC and NYC, with several stops in NYC. From what I've heard it's a very good service. I'm catching the morning bus on the 28th to NYC so I can make it to the matinee of Sweeney.

Kel- I just left an updated post on the Washington D.C. Board. I'm collecting SNs of BWWers who live in the area so we can contact them directly.

DD- I'll have to look into that bus - sure beats the Amtrak price! I'm headed to NYC on November 12 (driving)to catch an off-Broadway matinee. I'll be interested to hear how do-able that kind of trip is using the bus service.

Elphaba - let me know which landing strip and I'll be there! Wouldn't you like to come to D.C. in late December? We have sun, too. Well, sort of.

Kel - I checked out the bus site and it looks great - what a deal! I'll bet they'll raise prices soon to cover the change in gas prices. But still......

Only problem is that they don't run buses on Saturday. No Saturday buses?!? What gives???? That's the day of the week I usually go up there.

Hello all. I never look at the local boards and this is the first I've heard about this. I'd love to stop by for a pink drink if I'm invited. (I'll even wear my pearls if Addy comes).

My next trip to NY is one day - up on the AMTRAK, see a show, and then come home. If a poor old lady like me can do that, certainly the NY'ers can come down here for a day?!

I usually do the NYC roundtrip in a day, too. I've pointed out to our friends up north that 95 now runs southbound as well as northbound.

Ugh, if only y'all would tell this to my mother. I was going to go up to NYC last summer with some friends and there was no convincing her that it was possible to make a roundtrip to NYC in a day. Yeah, it doesn't leave the most time for actually being in the city, but it IS possible.

Skittles - I usually leave MD early enough to have lunch in NYC before a matinee, then I have an early dinner (or drink and munchies) before heading back to MoCo. If I take Amtrak to BWI, it's @ 3 hours per trip.

Exactly. It's like 6 hours total travel time, but that's apparently too much for my mom (and she's not even going, she's deciding it's too much for me). Nevermind the fact that we drive 8 hours one way to get to our beach house in the summer. But my mom hates New York, so logic like that doesn't work.

So, ok, tell mom she's absolutely right. Six hours of travel in a day is too much. Doesn't make sense. That's why you should stay OVERNIGHT and come back the next day. Three hours of travel isn't bad - that's less than a trip to the beach!

Being a mom myself, I really shouldn't be undercutting your mother. We take a vow of solidarity, you know.
