lol I am confused lol, where is this going to be?
p.s. I love Debra Messing! I think she contributes so much to the greatness of 'Will & Grace', which just so happens to be the best show ever! I would like to see her do this role, it is so different from what we see her do, it would be a good change!

I heard Gwyneth Paltrow was going to play Tracy.

Gwyneth Paltrow was just one of many many A list names (in terms of star quality and talent) that have been bandied around for this production. So it's quite a drop to get to Ms. Messing.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Then again, nobody seems to expect much for Ms. Messing, so she could just come out of nowhere and blow everybody away.

Now, I'm Laura Linney's #1 Fan, but I just don't see her in this role.

I'm a fan of Messing's. People seem prone to make comparisons to Lucille Ball, no doubt because of the red hair and some of the broad slap-stick on W & G. When she tones it down a bit, or when she is playing the straight man, she reminds me much more strongly of the fabulous Myrna Loy--there's a smart, coy quality to her face that I find really appealing.
All that aside, I would no sooner cast her as Tracey Lord than I would Myrna Loy--I think there's too much infectious humor inherent in both of their styles to play the magnificently haughty Main Line debutante.
It may be interesting and it may be fun, but I don't think it will be Right.
