Just got the 3 DVD set of the entire series (27 episodes 1 season) of Johnny Stacatto

It was shot in NY in 1959/60 . It is a treat to show the city as it was than. John Cassavetes play Stacatto a Jazz musician who moonlights as a detective. The jazz club combo had a person on the piano you may have heard of. It is John Williams of Star Wars/Jaws fame.

One episode has a super sexy Cloris Leachmans. Another has a than unknown Martin Landau. It is not expensive at all & well worth your time and money.

I've never even heard of that series. But it sounds pretty cool. Almost like Pete Kelly's Blues.

I'll have to check it out.

To show how old I am, I remember the series, well. In fact, it's the first time I can recall seeing Elizabeth Montgomery. Do you have the episode(s) she was on?

It is a flat out funny series that was on for 2 years. This one features shots of the bronx & stars like Jan Murray, Molly Picon, Alice Ghostley, Shari Lewis, Charlotte Ray plus Al (Grandpa Munster) Lewis & Nipsy Russell. Lewis & Russell were regulars. Written & created by Nat Hiken of the Phil Silvers show. Price from Amazon was about $ 20 for 30 1/2 hour episodes.

I was tempted by a black and white 1950s New York and a jazz musician detective, but when I read Elizabeth Montgomery appears in it, I was sold!
