So, my friend and I already managed to reserve two tickets to see the Daily Show and we have to be at the studio by 4 PM. But then I read on facebook that someone got there two hours early and because the studio is overbooked to ensure capacity they couldn't get in.
Does anyone here have any experience with the Daily Show tapings and what time should I get there/what should I expect?
Thanks in advance!
While I have never been to a DAILY SHOW taping, it is general practice for all TV show tapings to overbook their live studio audiences by as high as 30% over capacity, pending on the week.
For any show, there is no definite time you should arrive as it is different day-to-day, especially if it is a talk show with guests.
For a taping of THE VIEW, I have gone several times without having tickets and just joining the standby line. I have gotten there as early as 5am for an 11am taping. For THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN I had tickets for the 4pm taping and got there at 12pm where a line was already about 50 people in line (the guest was Tom Cruise).
I went to a taping of The Colbert Report, and we arrived at the scheduled time. We had no problem getting in. I would imagine The Daily Show would be similar.
We had tix on Wednesday to go. They said be there at 4. We were there at 3 and the guard gave us a piece of paper saying "this doesn't guarantee you get in. Be here at 4:45 and we'll let you in 'alphabetically.'"
Unfortunately, we didn't get to stick around to find out what that meant as we had an appointment at 7. We thought we'd be able to do both, but they don't let out till 7...
