Girls, you're both pretty!
Someone recite Carrie's mother's monologue from the end of CARRIE to lighten the mood!

Posted: 10/27/09 at 12:09amI should've killed myself when he put it in me. After the first time, before we were married, Ralph promised never again. He promised, and I believed him. But sin never dies. Sin never dies. At first, it was all right. We lived sinlessly. We slept in the same bed, but we never did it. And then, that night, I saw him looking down at me that way. We got down on our knees to pray for strength. I smelled the whiskey on his breath. Then he took me. He took me, with the stink of filthy roadhouse whiskey on his breath, and I liked it. I liked it! With all that dirty touching of his hands all over me. I should've given you to God when you were born, but I was weak and backsliding, and now the devil has come home. We'll pray.

"I didn't even read your post, Namo. I rarely read your posts. They bore me.
So you lose. And you're wrong."
Oh, Sweetie. Never quote the post you've just made a point of stating you didn't read. It causes a credibility gap. I take very seriously your charges of my posts being boring. It has been said it takes one to know one, so I will endeavor to be less boring.

See? You still can't read. But schoolyard bullies never can. Probably why they like to pick on the others in the playground. Only this isn't a schoolyard, and your middle-aged bullying persona is even more pathetic on a Broadway message board.
If you'd pull your head up for a second, you'd realize that I only read your post AFTER you made such a juvenile bullying attack. Not before. I had no idea that "christ" you "started it all" and "thought it was funny" first, because I skipped right over your post, as I so often do. It didn't start with Namo, "sweetie." It never does, as far as I'm concerned. There? Clear now?

PJ slaps both Namo and Besty on the face--HARD!--and says:
"Now, BOTH of you, go right back into that room and congratulate HATTIE!"

Well, addy, here's the coda after the scene ... before the credits roll. (do they even do that anymore?) Because I don't like staying mad.
"When you blow, you blow hard."
When push comes to shove, Namo, yeah, I do. But I don't like being pushed or shoved. It ticks me off. And then eventually I blow.
You're a smart guy. I've always thought so. No bullsh*t here. But you don't need to go on the attack around here to make your points or to disagree with someone else's opinion. Your own opinions are strong and solid enough without "deconstructing" another poster with that schoolyard bully crap. That's why I stopped reading a lot of your posts a while back. All I began to see was this middle-aged schoolyard bully. Oh, sure, he had a brain, and a good sense of humor, but I didn't really care what he had to say. It had the opposite effect of your intention, in other words. The personal attacks only worked against your point and weakened it, they didn't support it.
And I'm not just talking about you and me. You've only "come after me" a couple of times on these boards. (at least that I'm aware of) But I've seen you do it often with others, and it bothers the sh*t out of me.
I'm not sure why it sets me off so much, either. Truthfully. I guess I was the guy who hated watching the bully pick on the other kids in the yard. I wasn't afraid of him at all, and I didn' think he was cool either. I wanted to beat the sh*t out of him myself.
There, I've "said my piece." (okay, probably too harshly)
You've got a lot going for you. You're a really smart guy. Just stop the bullying crap and let me read what you have to say.

At tonight's performance, the role of Jane will be played by Besty, and the role of Blanche will be played by Namo. Or vice versa.

Oh, Betsy. You really should step back and take a fierce moral inventory of the tone of your posts for the past several months. They range from
condescending and pedantic to insufferable bloviation. I tend not to make a comment until you do something as ridiculous as your wrong-headed Holocaust analogy (which you have chosen not tocomment on, OF COURSE while shifting the focus of your response to me personally).
If pointing out your specious argument is "bullyiing" then so be it.
And of course, neither of us should overlook the basic Jungian truism that we are most irritated by people exhibiting behaviors most like our own. I'm the one who admits that fact, of course, and the reason you've been irritating me more than ever is that your posts are the sort of things I have been trying to avoid making in recent months.
If Jung is too deep, just remember Mike Brady's admonition about finger pointing. And your dead Jew analogy is still way wrong.

Posted: 10/27/09 at 6:19pmI get where Besty is coming from in his analogy simply because upon reading the isolated quote from the interview, it does appear on the surface to be a rather distasteful pairing. I've also never been quite clear on how the arrival of Andrew Lloyd Webber was so "unfortunate". Was it the fact that his shows were insanely popular the world over or that he composed songs that have become standards in the musical theatre canon? Or perhaps that he's not an American composer?

I think what is most unfortunate is that he uses the word "unfortunate" before ALW and not AIDS, thus the controversy.

"And he really pulled the whole thing together in EVITA."
I thought that was Gordon Brown.
Didn't he transfer?
Bollocks. I forgot that the first person to mention Gordon Brown loses as well.
